Do they actually let anyone talk? Do you have to get on the agenda? How about the Dec 15 mtg? Anyone else in CyFair want to go and lobby for a special autism campus or at least a few autism classes? My sister in law is in Channelview ISD and she said she pushed for years there but finally got her son a special class for autism. But he's on the severe end of the spectrum and my son is not. I can see the district fighting more with someone like me than someone like her. We both need services but I get the feeling the their minds a child that doesn't " look " like he's that bad off, doesn't need that much help. Yeah right, try living with him 24/7...still can't dress or bathe or do anything with 10 prompts, beligerant about everything, weird little perseverances, etc. And that story someone just posted about the high schooler getting ticketed for hitting the teacher (being cornered by the teachers), that's why we're not in public school anymore. That was happening to him when he was in 1st grade. I fear too much what mainstream teachers and kids will do to him as he gets older. You just can't push these kids into compliance...why don't they get that?
Guest guest
You do have to be on the agenda and I believe you get 3 minutes to speak your concern... Call the CFISD office that does that - and see if we can be on the agenda for Dec 15th for special education concerns.... M. Guest guest
I had a very bad experience with CFB-ISD as well, and pulled my son out, too. I would love to attend the board meeting. I think it's a great idea. In Texas-Autism-Advocacy , " M. Guest guest
Most district school board meetings have a time set aside for general public comments. If a large group of parents show up, sign up to speak, and then all talk about the same issue, it generally gets the attention of the school board members. nna
