Guest guest
It is very troubling to receive the amount of email I have lately regarding the Illegal use of restraint, abuse, Time Out Rooms, and even worse in the investigation into the ISD's in TX. If your school district uses Time Out rooms at all, or uses restraint without Behavioral Intervention Plansk, or if you know of or have heard of abuse of our children in your district please post a response or if it is too personal please email me directly. This type of prehistoric activity must come to an end. In drafting legislation to put before our President Elect right after he comes into office I would really like to have the most Input I can get regarding these types of things. The promise made will be kept if it's the last thing I do on this earth I will make sure of it !! I have faith in God that we shall be led into a new beginning that will bring about much change in our Educational Climate. In order for this to happen we must overload the new Administration with as much parental input as possible. I will be blocking out names of children/parents but will not block out the school districts involved so please try to be as specific as possible. The more responses I get to this the better... if you want to see the promise we were given kept.. please speak up about the wrongs you know of and specifically where those wrongs are. No responses will be used for anything other then this unless you request help in your situation. I personally could care less who loves or hates me (other then God), as our children matter the most. Many times we as parents feel intimidated and do not speak up when we know we can give information that may help the next child in line. I know it's hard to handle the situation you may be in now.. but please consider the next parent that may not have to endure what you have had to. Even if it is not with your child, please respond. Thank you all for your input it is very much appreciated. Tomball ISD in /Montgomery County uses time-out rooms and have been caught using them illegally. I'm not in that school district now, but we were. The time-out rooms were actually a major factor as to why we kept our kids in private school then moved out of the district before our twins, one Asperger, started public school in first grade. This was several years ago now though, so you'll have to check it out.
Guest guest
Mr. , I am not familiar with the Office for Advocacy for Autistic Children. Could you please give more information on your group? Are you with a non-profit agency? If so, who is on your board and where is your website? Who are your members? Are you with a governmental agency? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. > > > It is very troubling to receive the amount of email I have lately > regarding the Illegal use of restraint, abuse, Time Out Rooms, and even > worse in the investigation into the ISD's in TX. Guest guest
Thank you, TISD goes on the LIST. In regards to what is going on in that state.. I can not wait for Obama to sign a Bill or ACT. I will be spending the next week collaborating all of the email and posts from there and then I will go ahead and NAIL TO THE WALL your state and US Senators. The 'garbage' runs downhill.. and will hit your Gov. right between the eyes. Normally I would call your Gov's office and end up with an Aide - and try to 'smoothly' influence the change that's needed ASAP. I can already 'smell' a Class Action coming in your state if there isn't one started already. > > > > > > It is very troubling to receive the amount of email I have lately > > regarding the Illegal use of restraint, abuse, Time Out Rooms, and even > > worse in the investigation into the ISD's in TX. Guest guest
Re: Sgailparr's request for information about E. , The Office of Advocacy for Autistic Children. My websites are down right now as they are being reconstructed with all kinds of new info for emerging nations that need to d/l entire program guides, for parents so they can d/l Dept. of Justice complaint forms, ADA complaint forms, and alot more of goodies. My old sites were based on the needs of children only. As my son grows I have grown too. I have so much incoming email from this post as I put it on 28 groups - over 1,000 offlist emails and also onlist posts - So I can't give you a 'personal' response but I c/p a response I gave to another that asked the question... Here it is.. it should give you a feeling about who I am... Some might not apply to you as this was to an adult Aspie woman that had problems w/ airport security. As you have requested I'll share some of my background: In 1996 at the age of 2 I diagnosed my son with Autism. I had recently recovered from an Auto Racing accident - enough to be able to go to work doing something other then my background in Finance and Racing...I became somewhat engulfed in Advocating for my son that year and getting him the program I thought was 'the best' for him. Little did I know that a whole world of knowledge was out there on this subject and not many in the Nation were Advocating on a National Level...so I started working cases and founded " The Office of Advocacy for Autistic Children " in late 96. By 97 I was working from NY to DC and back to Calif. and abound. I came up with fee schedules about 4 o 5 times as I was winding out of personal resources.. but I could never use one - I never had 'charged' a parent(s) and didn't like the fact that anyone charged - which is what spurred me into Advocacy. Within the next year I was registered as a U.S. Civil Rights Lobbyist and speaking in D.C. and all over the country in regards to bills or the wants or needs of the community of parents, children, and adults with ASD's. I started " Online Advocacy " in 1997 and opened our first office. Since then we've been based in Sacramento, Ca, Tacoma, Wa, Phoenix, Az, NY,NY, and in Honolulu, HI., which is where I currently am located. I live on the Northern Shore of the Island outside of Honolulu. My son is now 15, so after passing along what I could to several other parents that have started and work under the name of the Office of Advocacy, so because he's gotten older I have too and am now working on some long term Global Advocacy and also do local work and online on a case by case basis. We still to this day do not have a fee schedule and have never survived even printing one out ! I am thankful to all that have put work into websites, Advocacy, and Public knowledge.. in whatever name it has been done in. Awareness is the most important thing to me. As people have became aware over the decade and a half I've watched this.. action is happening on a faster scale then I could have ever kept up with back in the mid 90's. IDEA has been ReAuth'd I believe 3 times since I started.. the numbers were 2-5 per 10,000 in the U.S., compared to the soon to be revised 1 in 135 now..or 1 in every 35 households. I know we all have tons of different data to keep up on now - so the way I look at it we all need to do whatever little or big or partial 'part' in keeping the public aware and educating our kids (regardless of how old you get you're still a kid !). Oh yes, to answer your question I have not met you personally and didn't know of you online other then seeing a few posts from you. I saw the one about the airline I I know how much it bothers me as I have a higher expectation of what they should provide in customer service for the costs. I don't think anyone likes being 'frisked' in the airport - I found it to be very degrading and it also made me very nervous. Now you can put that behind you and now in the future not to expect them to just be nice - in this world we live in sometimes you have to just ask for things and I think thats your best option Sondra. I hope the best for you, E. , Sr. ===================== Posted through Grouply, the better way to access your Yahoo Groups like this one. http://www.grouply.com/?code=post
