Guest guest
Dear Friends, I was talking to my grand-daughter yesterday. She was at the High School to pick up some papers. All of a sudden she start laughing.I asked what was so funny and she said one of their classes was using those fake babies (dolls) to teach teens how hard it is to have a baby at their age.Well I guess a boy was coming out of school and his " baby " was screaming, which reminded her of the boys swim meet she had been a timer for! All during the swim meet these babies were crying and their " dads " couldn't leave the pool area to comfort, feed, change their babies.Anyway the announcer had to ask all baby sitters to leave the spectator section at which time half the bleacher section was vacated.I think the class project is a great idea, but it would be even better if they all had to wear the pregnancy belly for a month too. Glad to know the schools are doing some preventionary steps. Elly --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
My 16 yr old daughter just had to take her parenting class last semester with the " baby " . At her school, you only have it three days, two nights. Cierra is actually pregnant, so my husband and I thought it would be a good idea for her to take the class. She had to take the baby everywhere with her, and once, during another class, she had to leave the room and take it in the hall to console it! I am telling you, these things are so real! And they are programmed to wake you in the middle of the night. Even when they suck their fake bottle, you can hear them swallow, lol... However, two days isn't enough in my opinion. And the pregnancy belly or " sympathy belly " wasn't something she was allowed to do for the simple fact that she is already pregnant. But the ones who had to use it only had to wear it for 30 minutes. Her parenting teacher said she had to write a report on what is was like to be actually pregnant since she couldn't wear the belly. But I have seen the boys at school with their babies, and it's a riot! They sling the baby around by one arm and forget to hold it's head (there is a sensor in there that will pick up on that if you're doing it wrong). But I am proud to say that my daughter made a 95 on that particular test. She missed one burping and one diaper change, so I thought she did fairly well. Thanks for the chuckle... Guest guest
Gail - That's awesome about your daughter. I guess that tells you that she is really preparing for her own child. You can really be proud of her that she is taking this responsibility so seriously. It's a hard thing to do at that age and she should be proud of herself too that she is turning this into something positive and trying to get ready. -- Re: RE: OT babies!
