Guest guest
I have worked in dentistry for 12 years, we have always used stainless steel crowns on children, I have never heard of an adverse effect. I would put one on my daughter if she needed one. Guest guest
You need to read Hal Huggin's book " Uninformed Consent " chapter 10. Stainless steel crowns are made of nickle, berryllium, cobalt and chromium. Nickle dissolves into the saliva and is more rapid if berryllium is present. Nickle is carcinogenic according to studies for the last 50 years. Displaces magnesium and calcium ions in the cells. Nickle inhibits certain enzymes necessary for DNA repair. Adverse immune reaction to nickle. Cobalt enhances the carcinogenicity of nickle. According to California Prop 65, if you live in CA, you must be informed that nickle is known to create reproductive toxicity. Nickle alters vision more than mercury. These are just brief excerpts from that chapter. I would seek out Dr. Marilyn DDS in Houston, She was able to place a resin filling in my son's tooth that was recommended for a crown by another dentist. She said it was possible that the filling could fall out before the permanent tooth came in. I said that wss fine, we'd replace it if we had to. Very nice office. > > or anyone who has used stainless steel crowns, > > Are stainless steel safe for our kids ....our dentist wants to make 4 stainless steel crowns for my 11 year old's molars.
