Guest guest
Geez, I just sent the kids off to school with hubby. It was snowing! We have all sorts of travel advisories out for the mountains, KY, and VA. I'm in East TN in the valley!!! Many Thanksgivings I've had roses in bloom. If it's gonna be this cold all winter I'm in trouble! Yesterday I had to check out Allie from school to get labs drawn. We had a lot of fun. First I forgot which floor in the parking garage we were at, I think Allie was a tad scared but also thought it was funny. I had her in her transport chair to help with the blood draw, so we went strolling through each level, thankfully there were only 3! We talked about how we were lost but how to get un-lost. Then we went to Earth Fare, where I get Allie's foods. Since feeding therapy she's now seeking Tings to eat, and she's taking a few tiny bites of deli turkey. I had her go & pick out the Applegate Farms version of turkey and chicken. She also picked out some gfcf chocolate chip cookies. She seemed to thoroughly enjoy that. Next we went to Payless to get her some new shoes. My girl's food is now a 12 1/2! I'm glad she's growing, BUT that also means no more velcro shoes, or at least a smaller variety. She picked out Hannah Montana LACE shoes! I know that must sound funny at 9 1/2 yrs old but shoe-tying has not been the top of our priority. She STILL puts her shoes on the wrong feet, so I've come to accept it & let her. There is something about it that feels good to her, who am I to tell her not to, they're her shoes & her feet. I'm still amazed at how complete strangers and others flip out at shoes on the wrong feet. Are we that bored as a society that we have to obsess on a little girl most people don't even know to point out shoes on the wrong feet??? I can see laces being untied as a problem, that's a safety issue. But what's the big deal if the child is happy? I handed the right shoe to her over her right side & told her to put it on, she put it on her left foot. I double-tied it & Craig said, " I cannot believe you are allowing her to go to school that way. " I got Allie to tell him, " Daddy, they are my shoes and my feet and that's how I like them.
