The Public Policy Assistant performs complicated technical and administrative duties which support the activities of the Public Policy and Public Information activities of the Council. This include monitoring state and federal policy issues/legislation; managing databases; producing and distributing public information materials and presentations, including accessible materials; preparing and sending electronic announcements; coordinating meeting arrangements; coordinating travel arrangements; and providing support to Public Policy and Public Information staff. The Public Policy Specialist performs highly complex professional public policy and legislative advocacy activities. This includes analyzing key public policy issues affecting people with developmental disabilities; assisting the Public Policy Director in coordinating public input processes and providing support to the TCDD Public Policy Committee; preparing issue papers and briefing materials; monitoring disability policy discussions by state agencies, advisory committees and the legislature; recommending strategies to advance TCDD positions; coordinating with other organizations on public policy input; representing TCDD positions to policy makers and the public; and providing support to advocates to facilitate their response to public policy issues. The Communications Coordinator performs highly advanced marketing, informational and educational work that supports the public policy, public information and project management activities of the Council. This includes coordinating and/or developing marketing, outreach, public information and public relations activities; coordinating external communications of TCDD and TCDD-funded projects to a wide variety of audiences including grantees, Council members, disability audiences, the public, news and informational media, and legislative and state agency offices. This position may supervise work by others. It also establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures and provides consultation on marketing and public information activities.
