Guest guest
We have a friend who has multiiple sclerosis and is wheel-chair bound. Recently I went through Pubmed and searched for anything I thought would indicate an adrenal problem with this autoimmune disease. I found an article relating how cortisone drugs are is used primarily as a first line med. Whew, I thought, if cortisone is prescribed, then probably the adrenals are down. So then I looked for other markers and sure enough, low DHEA produced by the adrenals was also a common problem. So I told my friend about adrenal insufficency and how Vitamin C could help. I heard nothing for weeks and, constantly forgetting about who I tell what to, told her about Vitamin C again. Well, she leaned forward in her wheelchair and smiled brightly and said she had been taking it and her hand tremors had reduced and she found she could stand on her legs while trying to balance herself in the car while her husband lifts her out. (Her husband actually thought it was a spasm as the strength of the muscle was so robust!) She has now changed from calcium Ascorbate to a mineral ascorbate ( www.metabolics.co.uk) which she has taken for the last few days and now she says the feeling is coming back into her feet. When I asked her about her fatigue in the morning (MS leaves you feeling quite winded) she remarked how, yes, she felt really tired when waking up but as soon as she takes the ascorbate, it perks her right up. She started by sprinkling some of the powder from a 500 mg cap on her food and has worked up to the whole capsule with a week. I will keep you posted. The mineral ascorbate seems a better product as calcium ascorbate, I understand, appears to cleave the other calcium in the body or something along those lines. There is an interesting article on this by , a very vocal lay researcher in New Zealand with whom I used to have contact. You can find her story on the internet where she relates her negative experiences with the calcium acsorbate version of vitamin C and related stories about the use of calcium ascorbate with Australian aborigines. I thought I would bring this up so that some of you might consider trialing the mineral ascorbate. There is an other version of mineral ascorbate omn www.adrenalfatigue.org with added bioflavanoids which I shall be trying out as soon as it gets out of Customs .. Have a great day!
