I really think that he should be having more than 2 hrs of therapy a week. Do ya'll have any suggestions on how to get more in home therapy? I would prefer aba. Thanks, I am new at this and need help and support. I have no one around here that I can ask these types of questions. Thanks Pamela
Guest guest
I totally agree that he would benefit from more ABA therapy. My son received ABA in pre K in NJ 5 days a week when he was 3 and then 5-6 days a week in a home program in AZ from ages 4-6. I know that TX doesn't offer ABA in the public school, but perhaps you can ask your ABA therapist to create a home program and train you or a college student to help. Guest guest
Hi Pamela, ABA is a good program that you should really consider. Specially that your son is turning 3 in March which means there will just be 2 months left for him to go to PPCD (public school program for children with dissability) and don't receive any services the whole summer. Unless, you will record any regression that the school will consider your child for extended summer services. This was exactly my dilemna when my son turned 3 this May. I have searched for schools and therapies and was able to place him in an ABA program with BTTC (Texana in Rosenberg). He made a huge progress from then. There are a couple of members here that are BCBA's and BC ABA that can help you should you like in home ABA therapy rather than bringing him to an ABA facility. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Pam I own a company called Maximum Potential Group. My organization has created courses (on DVD) that teach you everything you need to know to set up a quality and affordable ABA program. Our courses were developed by two PhD BCBA's and we offer data collection packages as well as ABA tools and personal coaching outside of our course. We also offer our courses in school systems and had a lot of interest at the Texas Autism conference in Dallas last week. If I can be of assistance to you let me know. You can view our courses and school packages at www.maximumpotentialkids.com I hope that this will help. On a side note I am also a parent of a 6 yo with autism. > > Subject: Re: In Home ABA therapy > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > Date: Monday, December 8, 2008, 2:15 PM > We are located in Mt.
