First Night Austin

Dear Families,

The University of Texas Autism Project (UTAP) is going to be part of the parade during First Night Austin. Join us!First Night Austin is "Ša public celebration of the arts that revives the ancient tradition of marking the passage of time with art, ritual, and festivity. It is a family-friendly, affordable, and alcohol free New Year's Eve festival."The idea (developed by the First Night organizers) is to create an artistic theme around UTAP. Participants of UTAP can walk as a unit; incorporate a motor vehicle, or any other creative mode of transporting the program down the streets of Austin. UTAP, as usual, welcomes the creative ideas, themes, and thoughts of our families. Let us know what you envision, we will collect all of the ideas, and see what we are able to create for the event. I will be attending a planning meeting with the the event organizers on December 11th, so please send your ideas right away.A few details:Date: New Year's EveTime: Parade line-up is 5-6pm. Parade begins at 6pm and it is estimated that we will be off of the route by 8pm.

Let's show Austin how creative we can be. Let's show our kids what it is like to be in a parade. Let's share with the city what our kids can do. Let's spend an evening together meeting new friends, showing a presence, and having a good time!Happy New Year,Pamela Buchanan, Director of ProgramsThe University of Texas Autism Project
