Guest guest
Tonight I had (my 11 yr-old NT) put on some eggs to boil for the potato salad for MIL's. I started the pecan bars & told Dinah (my 6 yr-old NT) that she could help with the crust, could help with the pecan filling, would help with the potato salad, and Allie (my 9 yr old ASD) would help me with the pumpkin pie. Well, we get the eggs on to warm slowly, I turn to the other counter to get the pecan stuff going with the girls and I hear Allie say, " The eggs are going to hatch! " As the water was getting warm one of the eggs cracked slightly. Evidently while she was waiting her turn she saw the crack and was hovering over the warming water, just waiting for a chick to come out. Lol. I told her they didn't have chicks in them but were just eggs. She watched for the longest time and I guess it sunk in. I sorta wish a little critter would have come out just to make it fun for her. I forgot some stuff and had to make the long trek to the other side of town to get some more gfcf stuff, by the time we got back Allie was sound asleep. I had told her before I left if she fell asleep before I got back I would make sure we make the pie together in the morning. I hope she doesn't wake up at 5 am like she does some mornings, she's liable to get it in her head that SHE will make the pie by herself!
