Guest guest
I am sorry about that – I know how scary it is. had his first seizure, a generalized tonic-clonic (grand mal) just before his 9th birthday. I don’t know why it happened then. A year and a half later, still doesn’t have any outward signs of puberty, so I tend to think the onset of his seizures was probably not related to puberty. The EEGs aren’t too bad. The worst part for is when the technicians place the leads. We usually have to hold ’ hands to keep him from pulling them off. Once they are on and he has gotten used to the feeling of them, it does not seem to bother him. Maybe the technician would let stick one on you so he can see there’s nothing to be afraid of. There will probably be a TV and DVD player in the room, so you can bring a favorite movie from home for to watch. will probably need to sleep for part of the EEG. Getting kids to sleep on command is tough for kids, so you might want to think through your plan for keeping him awake the night before and how you will be able to keep him awake on the car ride to the hospital. Has an MRI been scheduled for ? If not, you might want to inquire about getting one done. Good luck! Geraldine
