Guest guest
et al; Keep in mind that when I talk about my doses they are based on my extreme case, not on a normal DSer. Always follow the recommendations that Dr. K and/or Dee gave you. If you have any questions, telephone the office. Do not take Dee's dosages or Jim's dosages as what YOU should be taking. Dee and Jim are the " worse case " scenarios. BUT, you can be in our shoes very quickly unless you follow the recommendations Dr. K gives you. OK, off the soap box now. Jim who is having yet another FULL JAR OF V. pickles. Guest guest
Jim, Sorry if I gave you the idea that I didn't understand each of us need to take different dosages based on our situation. I completely understand that. AND I would never change my dosage with out speaking with Dr K's office unless maybe if my PCP told me to (and even then I would probably tell Dee). ;0) I was just surprised to hear other people talk about such high doses of D3 and Vit K. As always, thanks for making sure my head was on straight!!*lol* > > et al; > > Keep in mind that when I talk about my doses they are based on my extreme case, not on a normal DSer. > > Always follow the recommendations that Dr. K and/or Dee gave you. Guest guest
, Do you get copies of your labs? My PCP here in south alabama knows little about WLS, let alone the DS. But my labs show I need it daily. I had to prove her wrong on the prescription Vit D. It did not help. She now realizes I know what I am talking about. Double check with Dee and tracks your labs so you can see trends ! I think there is an excel sheet in the files. If not email me and I can send you one. Guest guest
Thank you! I have printed it out. I am in abit of shock right now. For one, many of my labs are VERY low (Like my ferritin that is 3). My Dr's have assumed that my " retinopathy " is from my diabetes...what if it is from Vit A deficency??? My Dr did order that lab about 6 months ago but there was a problem with the processing and never reordered! Plus , when I went to the " files " section, which I had never noticed before, I found the memorial file. I am now a crying, blubbering fool. Cindee and I were switch sisters. Although we had gotten out of touch, we were close at one time. Reading all of those announcements breaks my heart! This is a lot to take in at once but I wanted to make sure that I let you know that I did print those forms and will definately be emailing Dee with my concerns. > > > > > > I find it interesting about the vit K and K2. Guest guest
Thanks, Vicki, I didn't realize that people were calling osteocalcin vitamin K2. Guest guest
Just for another perspective, I take betacarotene and mix it up with one or two Ocuvites daily. I don't take " dry " vit A and my levels are fine. I added back beta carotene because *those* were a bit low last time. The body converts it to vit A as needed. Guest guest
, Diabetic retinopathy is very characteristic of diabetes and not related to eye problems caused by a lack of vitamin A. My ferritin is 4, so we are in the same boat. I am more anemic than I have ever been in my entire life. I restarted my iron tablets and might even force myself to eat, ugh, liver! Guest guest
Marta I don't know that K2 is called osteocalcin But the blood test Dr. K ordered was called an " osteocalcin blood test " to test for Vitamin K2 Vicki -- In DS_Friends_Keshishian , " mjs93311 " wrote: > > Thanks, Vicki, I didn't realize that people were calling osteocalcin > vitamin K2. > > Marta > > > > > > > --- > > there is a blood test for k2. i had Dr K run one on me. Guest guest
here's a link explaining the osteocalcin test http://www.insideindianabusiness.com/newsitem.asp?id=15984 > > > > > > --- > > > there is a blood test for k2. i had Dr K run one on me. Guest guest
, Glad you found the files ! Sorry you did not know about Cindee. Find out from Dee what your Vit A level was. You can save the files to your computer too.. by changing the destination and keep track of them on your computer. That way you can keep up with them. I walways highlight the high ones and then the low ones in a dif color and then it is wasy to see the trends of what is high and what is low. Ginger <>< > > Thank you! I have printed it out. My Dr did order that lab about 6 months ago but there was a problem with the processing and never reordered! > > Plus , when I went to the " files " section, which I had never noticed before, I found the memorial file. Guest guest
Thanks, Vicki, for the link to the news release for Roche's test for osteocalcin activity. I call vitamin K2 menaquinone and vitamin K1 phylloquinone. Anyway, I just woke up so might be groggy. Menaquinone is made in our intestines, I believe, so I guess if we take antibiotics and kill of our bacteria, that could affect our levels of menaquinone and hence affect the reformation of bone. Or maybe the DS causes changes in our large intestine affecting our levels of production of menaquinone. EEEK! Complex! Guess we should say that fat is good for bones? I like that! Anyway, then we have to " steal " the menaquinone from those poor innocent E. coli... Marta sipping her morning coffee with double cream! waiting for Jim to comment on the Reformation! > > > > > > > > --- > > > > there is a blood test for k2. i had Dr K run one on me. Guest guest
Did I miss a post?? But since you mentioned it, I don't mind the Protestant reformation too much but that dang Calvinist reformation ruined the world. All those beautiful windows and other art work they went about smashing up is just horrible. And all that predestination and the " more material wealth one has the more likely one is of being chosen for heaven " just really bugs me. Marta, you must find an Anglican over there and ask what they think is going to happen at Lambeth -- will the Communion split and all that stuff. Ok, I'm going to get off of the " reformation " before I start sermonizing and " I can sermonize something fierce! " (One quid to the person who can name the movie from which that is a quote.) Fr.Jim Who really is enjoying those Vlassic pickles with his sour cream and onion crisps. (I've got to win the lottery big time so I can move to the UK.) _____________________________ Re: Vit K2 and calcium Marta sipping her morning coffee with double cream! waiting for Jim to comment on the Reformation! . Guest guest
--- Marta you explain it much better. from what I've been reading any baterial overgrowth will also effect the absorbtion of Vit K.Hey I was reading about betacarotene after you posted about it- how much do you take I want to do half vit A and half beacarotene, so would I just add it and subtract the vit A? Thanks vicki In DS_Friends_Keshishian , " mjs93311 " wrote: > > Thanks, Vicki, for the link to the news release for Roche's test for > osteocalcin activity.
