Guest guest
I find it interesting about the vit K and K2. I also read on the osteo board and there is a lot of info there on Vit K2 and since my calcium level had been on the low end I decided to give it a try... so I found this one and ordered it: Vitamin K-2 by NOW - http://www.ihealthtree.com/vitamin-k-2-100-vcaps-now-foods.html Well within 10 days I had a strange rash and was itching like crazy. I had been working outside and thought maybe it was due to that.. but it did not go away. When I was popping my vitamins it DAWNED on me the only other new thing was the the Vit K2 in my routine.. So I STOPPED taking it. Within 3 days the itching was gone... the rash is almost gone.. today is day 5 . I found this REALLY wierd. but there is something in it that I am allergic to... Anne, You talked about calcium and having trouble getting it down. I switched about 6 months to this one: Calcium Citrate Malate 2000 mg/day http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Calcium-Citrate-Malate My labs have greatly improved. It dissolves SUPER fast and is a small clear capsule. How do you do getting capsules down ? I never have trouble swallowing anything. The only down side of them is it takes 5 to get a 1000 mg... so I take ten a day....I spread them out starting about two hours after my iron. My PTH went from 65 (high end of scale) down to 25 in 6 months on this routine. My calcium went from 7 (below range) up to a 9 with 10.5 being the top end of the scale. Also how is your D3 level ? You need Vit D3 to absorb calcium... You can this from two sources: 1 Dry Vit D 3- 50,000 IU every day http://www.bio-tech-pharm.com/products/d35.html or http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action & key=1070 My D3 level is still a bit low...but only by 2 points, I am working hard to be out in the sun more and I used to take it every other day but changed to the one a day not long ago. I do know some DS'ers who take 100,000 IU a day to get good levels. This is why labs are so important as we all vary in what our needs are.
