Advice Needed: Do meds STOP working? What to do?

Hi all,

Looking for a little great advice from all of you! DS (9) had been

doing great; went off Risperdal because of the weight gain (25 pounds

in 6 months), tried Abilify which didn't help, went back on Risperdal

3 weeks ago.

He's STILL a wreck; reassurance seeking, obsessing about stuff,

short-tempered, you all know the drill.

He sees psychiatrist next week.

What have you done when this happens? I loathe the idea of a new med

trial. He's gotten bigger since his initial meds; do I need to change

dosage?

Also, has anyone had success with Metformin used to counteract med

weight gain? How did that work for you?
