Guest guest
Zinc for the hair loss. Try a really good hand lotion and put it on your scalp over night. That worked for me most of the time. _____ Hello Group, I am 3 months post-op and my scalp is extremely dry. I have really bad dandruff. Guest guest
, How are your protein levels and vitamin levels, etc? Keeping up on your protein, taking your vitamins and all that will help reduce your hair loss, but it won't stop it. It's funny, I was completely paranoid about the hair loss, but whenever I went to the hair dresser they kept talking about how my hair was so thick, so it was just way more obvious to me. I just compare it to my dog, who I swear should be bald by now, with the amount of fur he sheds every day! Is the rest of your skin dry though? Have you tried increasing your vitamin E, etc? How's your hydration? There are so many different contributing factors, that it would be hard to pinpoint the cause, but for the symptoms, I'd say to try and improve your hydration, your protein intake and then maybe add a leave in conditioner to your routine or try a product like Scalpacin or something...(that product looks like it's just supposed to help moisturize the scalp so its doesn't feel dry and itchy. I'd also switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner if you haven't yet already! *hugs* Anita in San 11/08/01 DS > > Hello Group, > I am 3 months post-op and my scalp is extremely dry. Guest guest
This is what I did: I quit using shampoo and used 's Moisturizing Baby Wash. I cut my hair short. I prayed. lol It stopped falling out and grew back, normal as could be. For skin issues, I started taking betacarotene and still do, to this day. Guest guest
, I have the same problem. I'm keeping my protein up, which in case you didn't know does have a lot to do with it. I'm actually am getting bald spots (I think, I can't see the back of my head. I'm not a mom yet, LOL). However, I'm losing way too much hair. I'm also taking Biotin twice a day. I'm with you, does anyone have any other suggestions. XOXO Dani mrslopezabc wrote: Hello Group, I am 3 months post-op and my scalp is extremely dry. I have really bad dandruff. I have had surgeries before, so I know about the hair loss, but this time it is three times as much. When does this stop, and is there anything I can do to prevent it any further? Guest guest
My dermatologist told me to take at least 5000mcg (5g) of biotin for hair loss and nails. My fingernails have gotten very thin and are splitting lengthwise. It's been a couple of months now and I can see a difference in my nails. My hair is definitely better. Dani is right about the protein, too. Bonnie Dani wrote: , I have the same problem. I'm keeping my protein up, which in case you didn't know does have a lot to do with it. Guest guest
Zinc picolinate is what I used and still do.. this is what I take 2 zinc picolinate (50 mg each) http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=586 or sometimes www.webvitamins.com is cheaper I took 4 a day when hair was really bad, but then back to 2 and labs have been good on 2. I was told at the health food store when visiting my dad that the picolinate absorbs better than the sulfa base... plus I was concenred on sulfa base as I am allergic to sulfa's in scripts. It does get better .. hang in there. Ginger <>< > > Hello Group, > I am 3 months post-op and my scalp is extremely dry. I have really > bad dandruff. Guest guest
I know that Dr K's website has a patient workbook that has a section that talks about the hair loss and suggestions. I have used Nixon shampoo and it does seem to help. Good luck! C > > Hello Group, > I am 3 months post-op and my scalp is extremely dry. I have really > bad dandruff.
