Guest guest
3rd and 4th days have brought a reduction in thirst and urination, however, my 20 month old son is still drinking more and urinating more than usual. ON this 4th day of OSR, I have just spoken with his ABA therapist and she explained that he was especially pleasant, playful, engaging and receptive (most especially receptive to her facial expressions while he was attempting to stim). I wouldn't say she was gleeful, but she felt his attitude and work was noteworthy. Last night on the 3rd day my wife reported that our son Aidon was responding to " What does the Lion Say " with a " Roaaaarrr! " . This was something he used to do right before he had his flu shots and MMR at 12 months and then preciptously lost soon thereafter. She was very excited to say the least. I do not see it as a monumental victory but it is a victory nonetheless. So, what can I safely say about the last 4 days? Attitude, responsiveness, performance have all been significantly elevated. There have been no " transformations " ... no " he was mute for 6 months and all of a sudden...'Mommy, pass the taters please' " Nonetheless, he has improved. I just thought of something else to report though. Yesterday and today, I was downstairs playing with him and his mother came down and his face lit up and started saying Ma Ma...Ma Ma. It is not new for him to say " ma ma " in general, what is new is that he is linking it up in the moment with her presense versus some verbal stim he loosely associates with her. I noticed yesterday that now when she leaves the room and he still desires her to be around he will call for her as he did yesterday when he heard her open the door and ran to the family room saying " Ma ma " . He continued to say it until she walked into his view and at that point he started smiling. Lastly, this morning I was on the computer in my bedroom and I heard my wife go into change him and give him his juice and when she opened the door he yelled " ma ma " The association is clearly made. Very cute. I will keep you informed and try to limit the minutia. Take care, PS Remember that below are reports from days 1 and 2. Second day of OSR. Again, Aidon is urinating profusely and drinking a lot of juice. Emotionally was a bit calmer than usual with his occasional resistance on transitions. ABA therapist was excited and said " He mastered 6 tasks today! " I am not sure what that means but as I have not yet spoken with her but it sounds exciting. Nanny says that today was the first day that he focused in her eyes when he was manding. She commented " Usually he just signs or does a bunch of gestures hoping that one will eventually get him what he wants. But today, he was watching Elmo and when I turned it off to get his mand, he looked me in the eye and stayed focused and then went back to the video when I turned it back on. " Lastly, wife says he was calmer, more affectionate and better eye contact than usual and imitated sounds as he did before he regressed. So from this one might say it was a great day but I have to be frank with you. I been in this game long enough to know that an N of 2 days is not science. Also, I am a bit cautious and protective because I want to have the energy and emotionality to go the distance. So avoiding the emotional lows and unnecessary grieving that can come from dashed hopes is an unattractive notion to me. I will keep you all posted. It would be lovely if someone else could share their experience. Take care and know that below is my first day post. My son has been on OSR for one day now and the only changes we have seen (not that we have expected to see any this quick) have been a prodigious increase in urination and thirst. WE are taking 1/16th of a teaspoon (50mg) 2wice daily. Both his behavior and energy level seem unchanged at the moment. Going to gather urine tomorrow (perhaps a 6 to 12 hour collection) to see if there will be any metal pulls. Just thought I would let everyone know. For those of you interested in buying it, I purchased it through a Dentist named Wilke in Texas. It was a whopping 350 for a 6 month supply. Who knows. I know I am swinging for the fences a bit but I felt like taking it low and slow for a while on this, capture some data, pay close attention to my child, and see if this " antioxidant " chelator is up to the hype. Below is the url for OSR. Good luck! http://www.totalmouthfitness.com/staff.htm
