Guest guest
Well... I am back in Louisiana!  We left before Gustav and got back just as Ike was hitting the Texas coast.  What a couple of weeks!  I forewarded an email to the group re emergency shelters.  Fortunately I was not in that situation.  We had to drive thru to OK as there were no motels in  Shreveport or Dallas. the LaQuinta in Shreveport had rooms.. a minimum of 3 nights!  How is that to treat evacuees?  This last Friday night we had reservations at the same motel chain in Monroe La.  The sheets were dirty.. I mean fees dirty... the whole scene was very grim.  Glad to be home.  Our house came through just fine... remember we had 30 trees removed after Katrina?  Jac's house was also fine.  He went to Houston for Gustav and to Destin, Fla for Ike.  A lot of So Louisiana still has water over the roads, etc. People who stayed in Texas must have had a death watch.  Didn't they learn anything from Katrina?  Stuff is still just stuff and most of it is gone.. so why stay? My eye is getting better... slowly... but clearing enough that the opthom said today the retina is not detached.  He could still not tell if there is a little tear or not as there is still so much blood.  But.. it is getting better.  I can at least see now.\\ It is probably due to the coumadin being too high. Marta... glad you went to Lake .. they had a lot of damage along the coast. Betsy
