Who has had a tummy tuck?

***I did and a breast lift (no implants) at the same time.

How far out

***Almost 2 years

> and how difficult was the recuperation?

***easier than the DS because there was no eating or bathroom

issues...just healing and a long incision line. Hardest part was the

backache from not being able to stand straight for approx. 3 weeks.

Did insurance pay for it?

***nope, I self paid and I was worth every penny it cost! I also had

no rash problem (after ds) and the panni wasn't " bad enough " for

insurance coverage. I was very lucky...I went into the DS saving my

money for the tuck cuz I was determined to get one. Events went my

way and I was even able to afford the boobies!

***being 6 years post-op and no physical problems with the panni it

is highly unlikely that insurance will pay for it. But is is free to

ask.

***Yes it is very common to have a tummy-tuck and other plastics

after WLS. But it is just as common to have nothing done.

lol...it's not like it is mandatory (chuckling). Oh and to save

money I had my procedure done at the same time and as an outpatient.

I was out of town so I parked my motorhome outside the door of the

surgery center and camped. The Doctor and nurses even popped in and

checked on me. (with no hernia repair my Plastics Doc routinely did

it on an outpatient basis...so I wasn't finagling a lower

cost...heeheehee)

Also...I was literally 100% pain-free till late in the night (I even

had to ask if the actually did the surgery cuz I didn't hurt nor was

I on pain meds so my Brain was clear) Basically the Doc bathed my

innards with Novocaine (or something like that) before he closed me.

By the time that started to wear off, just normal doses of Vicodin

was plenty. I truly had an easy experience...most folks will tell

you of more trauma.

Hugs

Jo

Melodie,

I had a tummy tuck for really bad hernias and a grade three panni.

Blue Cross paid for it due to the grade and of course, the hernias.

It was 1 3/4 yrs out, I think.

It was faster recouperation than the DS, but then, I was back to work

post-op day 19 after the DS as I had no insurance, so no workie, no

money.

No rashes due to good skin care. No tricks, either.

I lost twenty more pounds after the hernias were repaired. I am

still pretty tight as Dr. K did a great job on me. Keeps me from

over eating to this day, I think.

No rush for plastics. I was surprised that some skin went back in

time, so to speak. Imagine that!

Who has had a tummy tuck?

I had one at the same time as my hernia repair, with Dr. K.

How far out

2 years to the date of my DS.

and how difficult was the recuperation?

Very easy for me, I took my pain meds as prescribed and starting walking,

walking, walking.

Did insurance pay for it?

Nope, they paid for the hernia repair, I paid for the tummy tuck. It's the

same price as if I weren't having the hernia repaired at all.

It made a huge difference, and I lost about fifteen extra pounds with it. I

went from a size 10/12 to a size 6, (after my last surgery, which was the

colectomy, I'm now a 2/4).

Hope that helps,

Juls - NM

Hi Melodie !

I have had a LBL. No insurance did not pay. I went to Brazil and

paid it all. TG for ff miles and good resources in the past. Our

insurance covers NO plastics... but they paid for my DS. I had no

problems. If you want to know more let me know. I went to Dr Elias

Kuster.

Blessings as you research. Hope you can get it covered. Seems that

people in CA are easier covered than other states.
