Topic: An overview of important special education issues for students

with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Speaker: Sneed

has been the Director of Education at The Arc of Greater Houston for

seven years. She did her doctoral work in Educational Psychology at the

University of Houston. Prior to The Arc, worked at MHMRA in the ECI

program. also has an older brother who has cerebral palsy and

schizophrenia who has been much of the driving force of her career interest

and practice.

will address special education issues of importance to children with

autism. Her overview will include Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs),

Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and specific interventions such as ABA

(Applied Behavior Analysis) and TEACCH.

Location: Gee Center, 3599 Westcenter Drive, Phone: .

Directions: Take the Richmond exit off Beltway 8. Turn onto Richmond east

of the Beltway. The first street you can turn at will be Westcenter. Turn

south onto Westcenter and drive only about a block and the Community Center

will be on the left.
