Guest guest
Just as an FYI, my husband and I just brought our 11 yr old with severe OCD to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This after 7 weeks of increasingly worse behavior at Memorial. Interestingly enough, the doctor we are seeing here said that she would never refer anyone to as she has seen many of " failures " either come to her at the Mayo and also when she worked in Chicago. I am posting this to let other parents know about this reputation, be sure that you get all your questions answered and understand exactly what you want out of the program. In our experience they did not teach us to " coach " our child, they did not include us as part of the team, our son needed exposure therapy and got group therapy, there were no rewards for any sucesses he had, but plenty of time-outs for failures. We were told they had a " hands off " policy, yet our son was picked up by the waist, carried to his room and locked in during a melt down! Maybe they have helped some families, but not ours.
