Keep in mind just how fragile the liver is during the massive weight

loss period.

Hypoglycemia Also known as: Hypoglycaemia; Low Blood Sugar

Description

Hypoglycemia is a " catch-22 " disease where Insulin over-counteracts high

Blood-Sugar levels, leading to low Blood Sugar (Blood Glucose) leading

to a craving for more Sugar.

These Substances may Alleviate Hypoglycemia

Amino Acids

Alanine (300 - 600 mg per day) may alleviate Hypoglycemia by converting

to endogenous Glucose within the Liver or Muscles as Energy is required

(thereby bypassing the Glucagon deficiency that is implicit in

Hypoglycemia). [more info]

Carnitine may prevent the Brain damage that may occur during

Hypoglycemia. references

Glutamine (and its " sister " Amino Acid - Glutamic Acid) may alleviate

Hypoglycemia (by raising Blood Sugar levels). [more info]

Glycine may alleviate Hypoglycemia (by stimulating the release of

Glucagon which then stimulates the release of Glucose into the

bloodstream). [more info]

Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of Isoleucine deficiency. [more

info]

Leucine deficiency may cause Hypoglycemia in infants. [more info]

Hypoglycemia may cause Tyrosine to be converted into Glucose which

may lead to a Tyrosine deficiency. references

Hormones

Adrenaline temporarily raises Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia

patients (by converting Glycogen into Glucose) -Adrenaline is secondary

to Glucagon in this function.

Glucagon raises Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia patients

(although individuals are often susceptible to Hypoglycemia due to

defects in or lack of production of Glucagon) by stimulating the

conversion of the body's stores of Glycogen into Glucose.

Lipids

Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) may help to prevent Hypoglycemia.

Minerals

Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of Chromium deficiency and

supplemental Chromium may alleviate the symptoms of Hypoglycemia.

references

Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of Magnesium deficiency and

supplemental Magnesium (340 mg per day) may prevent the low Blood Sugar

levels that is characteristic of Hypoglycemia. references

Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of Potassium deficiency. [more info]

Smart Drugs

Dilantin may alleviate Hypoglycemia. [more info]

Vitamins

Vitamin B3 (100 mg per kg per day of the Niacinamide form of Vitamin B3)

may alleviate Hypoglycemia. references

Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of Vitamin B5 deficiency.

These Foods/Herbs may Alleviate Hypoglycemia

Algae

Spirulina may alleviate Hypoglycemia. [more info]

Fruit

Bilberry is claimed to alleviate Hypoglycemia. [more info]

Blueberry is claimed to alleviate Hypoglycemia. references

Herbs

Golden Root may prevent Hypoglycemia. [more info]

Goldenseal may alleviate Hypoglycemia (according to folklore).

[more info]

Korean Ginseng may stabilized Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia

patients. [more info]

Licorice (root) is an adjunct to the treatment of Hypoglycemia (due to

its capability of increasing the effectiveness of Adrenal Hormones).

[more info]

Sanchi Ginseng may increase Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia

patients. references

Siberian Ginseng may increase Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia

patients. references

Suma has been used in the treatment of Hypoglycemia (it is a folklore

remedy from South America). [more info]

Vegetables

Parsnip may increase Blood Sugar levels in Hypoglycemia patients. [more

info]

These Substances may cause Hypoglycemia

Alcohols

Alcohol may induce reactive Hypoglycemia. references

Carbohydrates

Excessive consumption of Sucrose is a common underlying cause of

Hypoglycemia. references

Hormones

Hypoglycemia may be caused by Insulin over-compensating for high Blood

Sugar levels and lowering Blood Sugar to the extent that Hypoglycemia

results (from excessive Insulin). Excessive doses of exogenous Insulin

may cause Hypoglycemia.

Hypoglycemia Sufferers Should not Consume these Substances

Amino Acids

Hypoglycemia patients should avoid supplemental Arginine as it

potentiates the effects of Insulin.

Hypoglycemia patients should avoid supplemental Taurine as it

potentiates the effects of Insulin.

Hypoglycemia may Cause these Ailments (Symptoms)

Appetite

Hypoglycemia may cause a craving for Simple Sugars (Carbohydrate

Cravings).

Metabolism

Hypoglycemia may cause lack of Energy. references

Hypoglycemia may cause Fatigue.

Nervous System

Anxiety may occur as a symptom of Hypoglycemia.

Impaired Concentration ability may occur as a symptom of

Hypoglycemia.

Confusion is a symptom of Hypoglycemia.

Impaired Coordination ability is a symptom of Hypoglycemia.

Drowsiness is a symptom of Hypoglycemia.

Irritability is a symptom of Hypoglycemia (67% of Hypoglycemia

patients experience Irritability).

Memory impairment is a symptom of Hypoglycemia (57% of

Hypoglycemia patients experience Memory impairment).

Nervousness is a symptom of Hypoglycemia.

Hypoglycemia can cause a deficiency of Norepinephrine.

Recreational Drugs

Hypoglycemia increases the craving for Alcohol (ethanol), increasing the

risk of Alcoholism.

These Ailments can Cause Hypoglycemia

Adrenal System

Adrenal Insufficiency is often an underlying cause of Hypoglycemia.

Digestive System

Hypochlorhydria may cause Hypoglycemia. References (Laypersons'

Publications

.. Kitchen, J. Hypochlorhydria: a review, part 1. Townsend Letter

for Doctors and Patients. October 2001.

The author claims that hypchlorhydria may cause hypoglycemia. This

effect may occur from hypochlorhydria interfering with the digestion of

proteins that are eventually converted to glucose required for stable

blood sugar levels. Hypochlorhyria also interferes with the absorption

of minerals required for proper blood sugar control.)
