I and my then 14 year old son did them. They were a waste of time for us. I think they could have worked if the doctor would have done them correctly. But instead of testing us for everything, he just tested us for dust, grasses, trees, pets, mold and that's about it. I told him that what makes me sick is carpeting, plastics, paint, car exhaust, smells, etc. He said not to worry about it, that treatment for outdoor allergy things will make all allergies better. He was wrong, and after about 9 months, we just quit going. Although, I didn't sneeze to dust any longer. But, I would only sneeze twice around dust, so that wasn't much help. I think if the doctor had tested us for allergies to foods and the other things I mentioned, and treated us for that, we may have gotten somewhere. This is how I believe about many therapies. Doing the therapy correctly is just as important as the therapy chosen.

Rapamycin Reverse Autism's EffectsTo: mb12 valtrex@ yahoogroups. comDate: Monday, July 28, 2008, 3:37 PM

I just recived this artical...could this be true??UCLA researchers have discovered that an FDA-approved drug reverses the brain dysfunction caused by tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC); because half of TSC patients also suffer from autism, the researchers are hopeful the treatment can address associated learning disorders. The journal Nature Medicine published the findings in its June 22 online edition. The scientists used the drug rapamycin on mice models of TSC; rapamycin is well-known for targeting an enzyme involved in creating proteins needed for memory. The same enzyme is also regulated by TSC proteins."This is the first study to demonstrate that the drug rapamycin can repair learning deficits related to a genetic mutation that causes autism in humans. The same mutation in animals produces learning disorders, which we were able to eliminate in adult mice," said lead investigator Alcino Silva, professor of neurobiology and psychiatry at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. "Our work and other recent studies suggest that some forms of mental retardation can be reversed, even in the adult brain."The researchers studied mice bred with tuberous sclerosis complex and confirmed that the animals suffered from the same severe learning disabilities as human patients. The learning problems were tied to biochemical changes and abnormal functioning of the hippocampus, a brain structure that plays a vital role in memory."After only three days of treatment, the TSC mice learned as quickly as the healthy mice," said first author Dan Ehninger, postgraduate researcher in neurobiology. "The rapamycin corrected the biochemistry, reversed the learning deficits and restored normal hippocampal function, allowing the mice's brains to store memories properly."No virus found in this incoming message.

Hey, Heidi, thanks for sharing your experience.

As far as I remember, the doc we saw last Monday did test more than jsut outdoor allegents, he tested food also, I was shocking that for all these years we have been on wheat free diet and only feed my son rice and potatoes, but it turned out my son is severely allergic to rice and potatoes, but not allergic to wheat at all.. and he is also allergic to all kinds of "safe fruit" such as watermelons, apples,..... ( of course, allergic to

nuts, dairy, mushrooms, soy, eggs..)

So, all these times, he was cranky, fuzzy, agitated...maybe caused by these food that we

thought they are safe to him...we were wrong...

However, we correct the diet immediately, not sure if the shots start to kick in, my son

does doing better in terms of allergy reactions ( no more running nose, yeahhh), and he seems happier, and calmer...

This immunologist we saw is also a doctor on DAN list, he also use bio-med treatments

along with immune treatments, we will see how this works for us, will post here for all of us..
