Guest guest
Thank you for your reply! When he was little they told me he had silent reflux, but it went away. i asked the doctor if we should test him for yeast and he said no. I started him on multivitamins bc he would always get sick (colds). i have compared his tounge with other babies and his is completely white with red dots. I want to start him on a good diet to fight bacteria, but it is so sad that we cant stop his diarrhea. today is the 9th day and no signs of getting better. the funny thing, he used to be a constipated baby until we switch to alimentum. any recommendations? thank you so much > > > Subject: Help PLEASE > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Monday, August 4, 2008, 2:07 AM > > > > > > > My son has has severe diarrhea for the past 8 days!! doctors found no > bacteria in his stool, they claim is a viral infection and that it > will dissapear by itself. Although in the past couple of months it has slowing started to come back and being a right pain because the pain in my chest and sortness of breath especailly at night has been dreadful I have now taken to sleeping half sitting up. I have had a few operations requiring a General Anesthetic I had my tonsils and adnoids out in 2007 and then a operation to correct my nose which they belived to be effecting my breathing which did not work. Recently I had my appendix out and since then my chest becomes very pain and my breathing becomes hard when I lay flat on my back but if I lay on my right side it becomes much easier to breath and chest pain substides. Could this be related to the General Anesthetic which has made my asthma return??? I have been put on Ventolin (Salbutamol) Evohaler. My General Practioner told me my chest pain is related to stress but it is not that type of pain if you get what I mean and he told me he does not know much about asthma and told me that it is not a Serious condition and I should not worry. So iI took it apon my self to go and see the Asthma nurse at my GP's surgery what should I ask for in medication wise because GP is less then Helpful. Guest guest
hello, Been to my asthma nurse today who was very helpful unlike the doctor I saw a few weeks ago. she took my peak flow which was 350 is this good or bad!!! also she changed my medication because she belived that I was on the wrong thing she changed it to Pulmicort Turbohaler and also Bricanyl Turbohaler aswell but only use the Bricanyl inhaler when it gets to the point that I am struggling. Far as my stomach pain is she has asked me to go back and see a doctor next week so he will beable to see excatly what is going on. But I am happy that at last someone is actually listen to me and not saying that asthma is not a serious condition because today I got told that it could proptential kill you if it is not treated correctly. One question that was not answered though and that was would the anesthetic coursed my asthma to return or is it one of tho things???? Help would be appricated. Many thanks Donna M R Griffiths (UK) To: asthma From: lilli_nyc@...Date: Tue, 21 Jul 2009 13:38:11 +0000Subject: Re: help please Sorry you are feeling so poorly Donna. Your symptoms sound like they could be several different things. Besides asthma, I would look into checking your heart with a cardiologist because of the ongoing chest pain. Also, I would see a gastro dr. to look into reflux because of all the trouble you have when laying down, plus that can also cause your chest pain and feeling as if you are short of breath. Right now I would see a pulmonologist to evaluate my asthma at this point rather than seeing a general dr, especially one that does not consider asthma a serious condition. I would urge you to keep seeking answers until you find out what is really going on so you can treat it properly. Many of us BTDT as well so we understand the frustration of this. Guest guest
Hi Donna. I am British too - whereabouts are you? I find the asthma nurse a lot better to speak to about medication etc, since the appointments are longer and they have more time to sit and speak to you. The asthma nurse at my last doctors when I was at uni changed the inhalers I was on as I didn't like them. I didn't like the ventolin inhaler, and found it did nothing, so I was put onto a Salamol inhaler, which is still salbutamol but in a slightly different form. i need to change doctors, and therefore will have a new asthma nurse again, as I haev just moved house, only 3 miles from where I lived before, but out of the catchement area of my old doctors surgery. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me. Guest guest
We're all so different. What works for one of us may not work with another. And sometimes that's something that's hard for doctors to grasp. Allergies can rear an ugly head over a multitude of things--and then allergies can form to stuff that hasn't ever been a problem before. For instance, some years ago, I was put on Bricanyl. It was a pill, not an inhaler. So I took my Bricanyl and went to my first day in a new job. By 10:00, my eyes were swelling shut. Apparently, a reaction to the medication. By noon, my eyes were totally swollen shut and I couldn't see anymore (lovely!). I had someone in the office call my husband who came and got me and led me down to a taxi to go home. By that evening with cold compresses my eyes started improving. Once I stopped the Bricanyl, I never had the problem again. Dealing with asthma is always a work in progress. With asthma anything is possible..it mightve been the last straw before the asthma kicked up again or it might not have been. Unless you actually have a test done where they anesthetize you and put you under and see if you have an asthma attack (which I doubt any one with any kind of ethics would do b/c of the other associated risks of anesthesia) you may never really know for sure. Its a scary thought to not know, but sometimes thats how it is. Sorry there isnt really a better answer to this one..Ann Dell Deals: Treat yourself to a sweet deal on popular laptops! They may look into what anesthesia you had this time around and give you a different combination of meds. Also, if something were to happen (God forbid), they will be more prepared for it.Ann Dell Deals: Treat yourself to a sweet deal on popular laptops! Share your memories online with anyone you want. Guest guest
Hi , I have to do a combo of both. I am on albuterol (two puffs in the morning, and then only as needed...most of the time that is all for the day), flovent (four puffs in the morning and four puffs at night), singulair (one tablet in the morning), and nasonex (two puffs in each nostril in the morning after shower). Once in a while, like last week something will trigger my asthma and I will need to do my albuterol. The new propellant in any of the three name brands that I have used (Ventolin, Pro-Air, and Proventil) seems to take longer to work than the old propellant...but the doctor says it is because I am not using the aero chamber each time. And she is right.....I should be using it, when I am using it for a triggered breathing episode, but that usually happens at work, and it is cumbersome. Plus, I work as a cashier, and it is one thing to pull out my albuterol and use in front of them, but I am uneasy pulling out an aerochamber with my inhaler and using all of that in front of them LOL. Albuterol does nothing for me, neither did Advair, but Symbicort seems to be helping a lot more. If I didn't have diabetes, they'd put me on prednisone for a week, just to see what it does, but that's got nasty effects on blood sugar. (In my next life, I only want compatible diseases, LOL) As they say on some other groups I'm on, "YMMV" (Your Mileage May Vary), and "YBYSE" (Your Body, Your Science Experiment). --, who is STILL waiting for Dr. House to show up... Ventolin is a form of albuterol, and any brand name of albuterol...Ventolin, Proventil, Pro-air works for me if I am in trouble. My thought is that if albuterol does not help, then maybe it is not asthma but a COPD...just my peaceful thought. Hugs! Cindi sea_girl111 wrote: Is this most people's experience?
