Guest guest
Can you get a moral or religious exemption in New Jersey? I live in Florida and have a religious exemption. Good luck to you--try calling the local county health department and ask for the office that deals with vaccine exemptions--maybe that will give you some answers. I did my exemptions over 4 years ago. The most difficult part was getting the double stroller into the office. Since I have the state issued exemption card, I haven't had any problems with public schools or with anything. Currently, I have heard that the receptionist for the vaccine exemptions office (here in FL) has been questioning parents--as to why they want it, who is their child's ped, ect. All of these questions are private and protected, so you do not have to answer. They are trying to slow down the number of parents who are now chosing to stop and/or wait on vaccines. My first child is ASD and he had a vaccine reaction. I stopped vaccinating my second child (also a boy) at 6 months. My boys are only 15 months apart. The one I stopped vaccinating at 6 months is robust and very typical--no problems there. Good luck
Guest guest
Just read my post and it should say the pictures are of my son smiling for the first time since he was one year old. I heard from the receptionist again and am still waiting for the doctor. They are still wording the letter that "I" am requesting it for medical reasons. They say they cannot say that my kids having autism is a medical reason to stop vaccinating. And the letter is only for my two on the spectrum. My head just hurts dealing with all this. -------------- Original message -------------- I have had two conversations with the receptionist at my pedi office today. I called asking for a medical exemption for my kids for vaccines. Two of my six have autism. This is apparently going to be a struggle. A doctor is going to call me back. I seem to be the first to request this as they are not even aware of what schools require in NJ now. The receptionist asked if the letter had to state "for medical reasons" or if it could just say "Mom objects"! She then went on to tell me that the last shot my kids received did not contain Thimerisol. How do I request this when the doctor calls back? I don't think they are going to do this. I explained to the nurse that I have fough ttoo hard to get my kids to where they are to risk them regressing. My daughter is doing awesome and my son is trying to talk. I told her that for their fourth birthday a couple weeks ago I have pictures of my son smiling for the camera for the fir st time since he was two and that I am not risking losing that. I am so emotional when it comes to autism and have a hard time not sobbing while I am trying to explain this to them. Has anyone actually gotten this exemption? Any advice? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi , We moved from East Brunswick,NJ to Colorado last year. We have 5 children and one with autism. I had stopped vaccinating my children long time ago. My youngest is 2 and never gotten vaccines and our peds in NJ never pressured us since she knew my son's autism. But in school was where we had to fight, and we finally figured out a way to get out of it. You have the RIGHT to not vaccinate due to your religion. There's a legal letter for religion that you can use to have your kids exempt. You can use it for peds/school buggers! No one ever bothered us after we presented the letter. You can e-mail me privately if you want a copy of the letter and i will send you a sample. Good luck God bless Medical Exemption--Has anyone gotten this? Help please! Guest guest
i don't know if it is the same for every state, but in florida where i live, you can just go to your local dept of health. you don't even need an appt. then you speak with the nurse and don't mention a word about autism, etc....just simply say, " i would like a religious waiver for vaccinations for each of my children. " i believe you need their name and ss#. and there is no questions asked and you leave the office with waivers in hand. make a copy-the schools keep the original. the schools accept these just as they would a vaccination submission from your doc. however, it is the docs who do not have to accept the waiver, they can simply say if you want to continue to be my patients, then you have to vaccinate. it took me 6 months to find a doc who would not make me vaccinate my newborn...but to me it is worth the search. jenny > > I have had two conversations with the receptionist at my pedi office > today. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your help. It looks like we are going with a religious exemption since my pedi told me it would be fraud for her to say that autism is a reason to stop vaccinating. I guess they are incapable of deciding for themselves that injecting neurotoxins into kids with neuro issues would be wrong. I have totally lost my faith in the mainstream medical community. That is not only sad, it's scary. -------------- Original message -------------- Can you get a moral or religious exemption in New Jersey? I live in Florida and have a religious exemption. Guest guest
Peds are rarely going to help. You'd be more likely to get a med exemption through some DANs, though I don't know how they are overall with granting them. We use both, there is a slight amount more paperwork with religious than medical, but I don't care, it's against my religious beliefs to harm my kids. Guest guest
I went to the sites that were posted in the replies and put together a religious exemption letter that I feel good standing behind. I sent it in to school this morning with my son. I'll see what happens. I really appreciate all the help. -------------- Original message -------------- Peds are rarely going to help. Guest guest
i am not sure if it is the case in every state, but in florida, you can walk right into the dept of health, no appt needed and they will fill you out a form right there on the spot for a religious waiver for vaccinations. hey, it might not be against our religions to vaccinate, but as far as i am concerned...i have no qualms about lying about that to the powers that be because they are the ones that messed our kids up in the first place....it works at school without any questions...the hard part is finding a regular pediatrician who will accept it...well, i found one-it took me 6 months...but he does not make me vaccinate any of my 3 kids. you might try for a religious waiver instead of all the headaches with the medical waiver.... jenny > > > > Yup I did when I had my kids in school but we have been homeschooling > > for several yrs now. > > T > > >
Guest guest
I always say, " we are religious excempt " and they(schools) will have you put an x in a box and sign your name. EASY! OTHERWISE, you should be able to download your own form online (and find the small box on the pages, and sign) That it IT! You can't say because of autism. You CAN say 'We are religious exempt' from vaccninations/immuniztions. > > Thank you everyone for your help. Guest guest
Just google your state and immunization waiver & you'll come up with some sites that explain the laws of your state. I live in ME and I can get a medical, religious or philosophical exemption. I typed up my own philosophical exemption for my tiddler who is not vaccinated. nicole>> Just out of curiosity--What state are you in?
