Sandie,

I have to repeat what Darcy said! That was probably very hard for you to do.

I think breaking the cycles in anything is very hard, but you were in a very

difficult situation!

Glad to hear things turned out ok!!!

Oh Sandie, I am so sorry to hear that you had to grow up in an

abusive home and then to have it happen again in your marriage. I'm

proud of you for getting out right away and doing something about

it. You are strong... Hugs to you...

Darcy :)

It was, but I'm glad I did it. I just couldn't stay

Alyssa,

I don't think I welcomed you to the group, so welcome :) I just

wanted to encourage you to try to come to the Grand Opening of the

WMTC! I can assure you that there will be people of ALL fitness

levels in the classes and you can always modify or walk it out if you

need to :) There is NOTHING more motivating then meeting both

and Shellie and working out with them live! You simply can't pass up

an opportunity like that, especially since you are so close to the

Center :) I promise you will have an AWESOME time if you come :)

Cara,

Welcome to the group!!! I can totally relate to what you are going through. I

also suffer from hypoglycemia and found out two weeks ago that my thyroid is

becoming increasingly less active. The military still wont provide treatment

though :-( I'm not sure what Hashimoto is, maybe you can enlighten me?

One of the things that I have found helped me the most was weight lifting. I

really needed that all day metabolism raiser. I haven't slimmed off the extra

15 yet, but it has stop climbing on. I'm also slowly working myself into the

zone diet because of the insulin sensitivity. I've never been a bad eater,

but I am far from saintly. I'm hoping that in addition to a meds reevaluation

will help.

I know HOW frustrating it can be. Hang in there. Exercise is one of the best

things you can do for your body even if you don't end up looking like a

Secret Model ( I hate them anyway) I cant remember when I started

Taebo...it seems like forever ago. Whenever they first released the tapes.

I'm so glad that I stayed with it and its wonderful to hear of others that

haven't been on this group that stick with it too.

Welcome!

Welcome Cara (and welcome to all the other newcomers... there are too

many to remember!!)

I too suffer from Hashimoto's (an autoimmune disease of the thyroid

which is the leading cause of hypothyroidism) and hypothyroidism.

Lucky for me, I was able to shed my excess weight regardless of the

condition. Unfortunately, I have heard zillions of stories of

difficulty in losing weight for hypothyroids.

By personal experience, I would like to lend you some advice that may

aid you in your journey.

1) Be sure your weight loss goals are realistic: is 154 pounds in

your healthy weight range? or are you in a comfortable dress size

according to your height?. If you responded yes to one of these 2

questions, it may be that your body is trying to tell you that you

have lost enough weight. If you have responded no, go to next point.

2) Be sure you have the adequate balance of food intake and exercise

output. Eating too little can be as bad if not worse than not eating

enough. Remember that with moderate or intense exercise, you have to

increase your food intake slightly to compensate. There are online

tools to help you determine what are your needs in energy (calories)

vs your calorie expenditure.

3) Be sure you eat a minimum of refined products. Choose whole

grains, vegetables, fruits, lean protein and dairy (if not lactose

intolerant) as your main calorie consumption. This will also help

you with your hypoglycemia.

4) If all of this fails, check with your physician that your levels

of TSH, T4 and T3 are adequate. If they are not, have your thyroid

meds reajusted.

Janick

who is down to 122 pounds (documented weight loss of 37 pounds since

end of February) and who is having difficulty, believe it or not, in

stopping weight loss (please don't hate me!)
