Guest guest
Welcome to the group Georgina! Sooooo your going to be a Xmas DS baby, what a unique gift you will be giving yourself. Advice... *Walk as soon and as much as you can. *Sip, sip, sip fluids (becoming dehydrated will land your be-hind back in the hospital fast) *Make Protein the main focus of your meals. (not getting in enough protein can make you nauseated!) *Don't buy anything in volume because what you will or can eat will change often during this journey. *Be willing to try new foods (example I hated yogurt before surgery...after surgery yogurt and cottage cheese was my favorite breakfast, taste changed) *Make the commitment to " follow the program " of diet, exercise, supplements, follow-up appointments and labs FOR LIFE! *When your diet progresses to meats...in the beginning moist meats sit better on the new tummy. So meats with sauces, dark meat chicken is moister than chicken breast...Steaks cooked medium sits better than Well Done, things like that. *Expect this journey to be a bit of a roller-coaster ride. You will have delightful Highs and you will have confusing lows. That is where a group like this is helpful...come here and celebrate your highs with us and express or vent your lows/concerns it can help. Enough from me for now. Please feel free to ask any specific question you may have. Welcoming hug Jo DS 2/19/2001
Guest guest
Hi Georgina My name is and I'm having surgery in Glendale tomorrow! I've been reading along on the website for about a month and have wanted to join in and decided to today after reading your email. I'm nervous a little but more than that excited to get on with my life. I'm tired of being a spectator in my life and not a participant. I've been married 19 years (very happily) and have 2 teenage boys age 17 and 15. The main theme song I hear from everyone is really about vitamin and mineral compliance for life. Best of luck to you (and me, too!) I'll keep you posted on my outcome. I really expect the Best! Subject: hey hey! To: DS_Friends_Keshishian Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 7:04 PM Hi everybody! I just joined the group today and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Georgina, I'm having surgery with Dr. Keshishian in Delano on December 23. I'm 23 years old and last I checked I had a BMI of 46. I'm trying not to freak out about the surgery any more than I should, but I'd appreciate any tips and advice you could send my way. It's nice to be here.

It'll be so nice to do something really good for myself for Christmas. To end the year right and start the next one off fresh and new and with hopes that I'll get healthy! Hugs!
