I am also concerned with MSG. I dont know about the Weight gain aspect , but it

kills brain cells.It also makes my hyperactive 5 year old bounce off the

walls<LOL

Unfortunately it is in many childrens favorite foods and may convenience items

like crackers , canned spagetti, even boulion cubes (for flavoring soups ) I

read lables carefully.and now I cook my families meals from the basics rather

than relying on convenience food.

I understand MSG can be addicting so if you crave a food , itcould have MSG in

it.Best bet is to stop using MSG.Maybe weight will come off once the MSG is out

of your body.

Acid, burn off the fat on overweight person who adorses good food that has

MSG?????

Does anybody knows what causes people overweight, is it the MSG or the LCFA?

I found this article very interesting. I don't believe everything that is

written but this seems very informative. " Preserve me from an enemy who has

something to gain and from a friend who has something to lose. " I wondered if

there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, so did a

friend of mine, Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of

Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and spent years working for the government. He made

an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was

writing called " The Slow Poisoning of America " .

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and

rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is

naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly

obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG

triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates; causing rats (and humans?)

to become obese. They even have a title for the fat rodents they create:

" MSG-Treated Rats " .

I was shocked too. I went to my kitchen, checking the cupboards and the fridge.

MSG was in everything: The 's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays

flavoured potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned

gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, Kraft salad dressings, especially the

'healthy low fat' ones. The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product

label had something called ''Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein'', which is just

another name for Monosodium Glutamate.

It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday

are filled with this stuff. They hide MSG under many different names in order to

fool those who carefully read the ingredient list, so they don't catch on.

(Other names for MSG: 'Accent' - 'Aginomoto' - 'Natural Meet Tenderizer', etc)

But it didn't stop there. When our family went out to eat, we started asking at

the restaurants what menu items had MSG.

Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG. But when we ask

for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough MSG and

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere: Burger King, Mcs , 's

Taco Bell And every restaurant like: TGIF, Chilis', Applebees and Denny's use

MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG

was in EVERY chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat

that coating on the skin, their secret spice was MSG. So, why is MSG in so may

of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative or a vitamin?? Not according to my

friend . In the book he wrote, an expose of the food additive industry

called " The Slow Poisoning of America " he said that MSG is added to food for the

whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is

It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of

Yes, that last study was not a typo, it WAS written in 1978. Both the " medical

research community " and " food manufacturers " have known about MSG's side effects

for decades! Many more studies mentioned in Erb's book link MSG to

Diabetes, Migraines and headaches, Autism, ADHD and even Alzheimer's. But what

can we do to stop the food manufactures from

dumping fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity

epidemic we now see?

Even as you read this, G. W. Bush and his corporate supporters are pushing a

Bill through Congress called the " Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption

Act " also known as the " Cheeseburger Bill " , this sweeping law bans anyone from

suing food manufacturers, sellers and distributors. Even if it comes out that

they purposely added an addictive chemical to their foods.

rushed through the House of Representatives, and is due for the same rubber

stamp at Senate level. It is important that Bush and his corporate supporters

get it through before the media lets everyone know about 'MSG, the intentional

Nicotine for food'.

Several months ago, Erb took his book and his concerns to one of the

highest government health officials in Canada. While sitting in the Government

office, the official told him " Sure, I know how bad MSG is, I wouldn't touch the

stuff. " But this top level government official refused to tell the public what

he knew. The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing legal

issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on fast food industry

may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and restaurants have been

addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for

it. Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food

additive. But what can I do about it?... I'm just one voice.

What can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments are

insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us.

that the corporate owned politicians and media won't tell you. The best way you

can help to save yourself and your children from this drug-induced epidemic, is

hi everyone!

I dont use MSG. I have become paranoid with food that

does not have a commmon/generic name LOL or at least

more popular with their lab names, again, on the

premise that it is no longer natural or it has been

tainted with chemicals.

But I do want tasty food. What I actually use instead

of msg is garlic. I know, I know, its the repulsive

smell. Oh well, gotten over it and I love it. My dad

used to take raw garlic to lower his blood pressure.

Garlic will give different flavors depending on how

you serve it or cook it. If I want to have a MSG like

flavor in my food, I use browned garlic.

My students used to be wary with garlic. But I told

them they do not have to eat it. It's supposed to give

flavor to your food. They're getting used to it and

now they are even trying to impress me, they eat the

garlic directly from the soup!

I really wasn’t going to weigh in on this one, but now I can’t help myself.

Every time we have come to the Republic of Panama we have lost weight. (we live

here now thank goodness) In Panama the only fats we eat are natural: Beef,

chicken, dairy, plant (avocados, palm oil, and coconut oil). The only foods we

eat are prepared in our house from fresh ingredients. Not even canned tomato

sauce in the house. In this process we drop weight like crazy, but what’s more

amazing is the food here is more satisfying than in the US. (BTW, we used VCO

religiously in the US and this helped us to be more satisfied with our foods,

but still not quite totally)

Now I have some theories, and they are just that, only MY theories. First of

all the chemical additives are totally absent from our diets in Panama as fresh

off the farm foods are extremely cheap and available year round. Secondly the

soil here must be richer in nutrients. In the states I have a terrible time

staying with a mostly raw diet because I am always craving more of something.

Here I am so satisfied with raw fresh fruits and vegetables and eat whole

avocado everyday with an occasional small amount of fish occasionally or even

less often chicken (my husband is the big beef eater).

Recently my oldest daughter and her family relocated here to Panama. In the

month she has been here she (5’2”) has lost 20 lb and one size. Her husband

(6’3”) has lost a shirt size. They are both eating the way I described we eat,

and the kids have either gained or lost weight each according to their own need.

There is a lot to be said for eating a ‘clean’ diet. And I believe MSG is an

evil ploy by the food industry to addict the American Public and increase their

food sales, much like the technique the tobacco industry uses. But I truly

believe a missing element in the US produce is also the lack of nutrient value

due to over farming and GMOS (imho).

While Panama does use pesticides on their crops, there are as of yet no GMOs.

The cattle are sprayed for pests, but no IGF1 or antibiotics. They are too

expensive for use here. I do hold my breathe at the new joint venture between

Tyson Foods and Melo Group (the Tyson of Panama). But thankfully patio chickens

(read free range) abound here.

month she has been here she (5’2”) has lost 20 lb and one size. Her husband

(6’3”) has lost a shirt size. They are both eating the way I described we eat,

and the kids have either gained or lost weight each according to their own need.

There is a lot to be said for eating a ‘clean’ diet. And I believe MSG is an

evil ploy by the food industry to addict the American Public and increase their

food sales, much like the technique the tobacco industry uses. But I truly

believe a missing element in the US produce is also the lack of nutrient value

due to over farming and GMOS (imho).

While Panama does use pesticides on their crops, there are as of yet no GMOs.

The cattle are sprayed for pests, but no IGF1 or antibiotics. They are too

expensive for use here. I do hold my breathe at the new joint venture between

Tyson Foods and Melo Group (the Tyson of Panama). But thankfully patio chickens

(read free range) abound here.

like crackers , canned spagetti, even boulion cubes (for flavoring soups ) I

read lables carefully.and now I cook my families meals from the basics rather

than relying on convenience food.

I understand MSG can be addicting so if you crave a food , itcould have MSG in

it.Best bet is to stop using MSG.Maybe weight will come off once the MSG is out

of your body.

It seems that the fallout on fast food industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers and restaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, and now we are paying the price for it. Our children should not be cursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive. But what can I do about it?... I'm just one voice. What can I do to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governments are insuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us. This e-mail is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tell you the truth that the corporate owned politicians and media won't tell you. The best way you can help to save yourself and your children from this drug-induced epidemic, is to forward this email to everyone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before politicians can pass the legislation protecting those who are poisoning us. The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry. Imagine if big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someone blew the whistle on Nicotine? Type in the words "MSG Obese" and read a few of the 115 medical studies that appear. We the public, do not want to be rats in one giant experiment and we do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic, addicted sheep, feeding the food industry's bottom line, while waiting for the heart transplant, diabetic induced amputation, blindness or other obesity induced, life threatening disorders. With your help we can put an end to this poison. Do your part in sending this message out by word of mouth, e-mail or by distribution of this print-out to all your friends all over the world and stop this 'Slow Poisoning of Mankind' by the packaged food industry.
