Guest guest
laptoplunches.com sells a stainless steel lead free thermos (they call it a lunch jar) that will keep food warm for 4 - 6 hours. We bought the lead free lunch system for our daughter because she has an overload of lead in her body. I haven't purchased the lunch jar but, the lunch system is a great product. All the teachers are asking where we got it and, seeing how attractive the food looks in the bento-style box has them asking that I pack their lunches, too! Subject: School(GFCFDiet)To: autism-georgia Date: Monday, August 11, 2008, 9:52 PM My son has a new teacher this year.My son has been at Cobb County School District for 8 years now and is gluten free, casein free, soy free,Dyes free, artificial Flavor free for 6 years now.I just got an e-mail from the new teacher that my son can not bring food at school that need to be warmed up. It is against policy for anyone to prepare food for students other than what is offered in the cafeteria. My son don't like many food and I have little opitions on what he like to eat so for lunch I bring hot dog and chicken nuggets that he can eat and he loves that. The school don't need to prepare just warm it up. At his IEP says that his diet has to be follow. Is anyone having this problem? I send an e-mail to the principal about this. I'm not sure what else I can do. Any sugestions? Thanks!!! Simon, "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. Guest guest
--- I am interested in this lunch system for my son. Can you tell me what items you have purchased. We just moved to Georgia from Memphis and my son was getting his meals warmed at lunch time in Memphis, but I havent asked to have it done here yet(today is the second day of school). But would much rather be able to send him something that is already warm or will stay warm until he eats it. Guest guest
Hi, I will look at that. What I learn today is that my son is having lunch with regular class and the kids can not bring lunch to warm it up. If I want the school to warm it up I need to have at the IEP.My IEP says the diet need to be follow but does not say anything about the need to warm his food so for this reason they don't want to do it at the regular class. Also the principal call me to let me know that teachers and paraprofessionals don't want to warm the food because they don't have training on that(GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!) Guest guest
No, Seriously give me a BREAK! That is totally unnecessary. The paraprofessionals are there to assist the children, so I thought, and it shouldn't have to be written in the IEP to warm up your childs food. Common Sense should come into play whenever it comes to your childs needs. Like I mentioned the Learning Center is very accomodating to you and your childs needs because I want my child to be comfortable at all times that is very important to me. Hopefully everything works out for you and your son!
