Guest guest
Hi Vicki Everywhere I turn these days there is something about Vit. D and an epidemic of deficiency. (Folks this is in the general population, not with DSers.) Even today on Oprah...Dr. Oz was on and one of the keys to longevity was getting plenty of calcium and Vitamin D. Can't stress it enough how important it is to supplement...especially for us who Mal-absorb vit. D and most of us rarely get enough year round skin exposure to a strong enough sun ray. Calcium and vit. D isn't just for the bones...it's for muscles contraction and the heart is a muscle as your article vividly points out! Thanks for Sharing the article Vicki...you are a champ. BTW...how is the K2 going? Any additional research findings? How about your personal levels? I see Vitalady now carries it. Hugs Jo
Guest guest
-- Jo I'm still taking 30mgs of K2. The problem is I'm still not absorbing calcium. Had the 24 hour urine test and my endo was not happy with the results. She did an ultra sound of my thyroid and found calcium deposits, so then she stuck 15 needles in my neck to take core samples--everything came back ok. So with a " gun to my head " she convinced me to take a Bonivia. It's the pill from hell, neck muscle pain and my heel bone is sore. So I told her I'm not taking any more. I'm upping my magnesium and combing 2 different brands of Calcium. From what I read on the DS forum your body gets used to the same brand of calcium and multis so it's good to switch around. On that 25 Hydroxy D make sure you get the labs back. It a send out usually and sometimes Dr K doesn't get the results. So just to be safe check we need to check our labs. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I think I'll make Beano Stuffing LOL Vicki B - In DS_Friends_Keshishian , " Jo " wrote: > > Hi Vicki > > Everywhere I turn these days there is something about Vit. Guest guest
> I did not know that Vitamin D could affect fibromyalgia risk, or contribute to high blood pressure. Anyone know about this? What do you think? Marla The info is pretty much what the Vitamin D buzz has been saying. People as a whole are vitamin D deficient. The recommended amount of vitamin D is now being reported at between 1000-2000 iu's per day. This is for average non-wls folks. I'd double the recommendation for us as our minimum daily intake. But I'm not medical so follow any of my advice with caution. Hugs Jo
