It took me hours to gather them. Most I had to type. I was so glad to get them done, I forgot to proof . Lol! Yes, I did it because of Dad. But he is learning! He no longer chews Tums like candy. He is eating what is good for him, except he thinks he can eat onions. Tonight he asked me to make him a pot of chilli with peppers! I asked him, if he was sure, he wanted it spicy, and he said yes. Now, he knows better.

With Heartburn, there may be burning sensation or pain in the stomach after 1 to 4 hours of a meal. You may feel hungry frequently, usually after 1 to 2 hours of a meal. Heartburn may be experienced when you lie down. Belching, nausea, bitter taste in the mouth, vomiting and loss of appetite are some of the other symptoms of hyperacidity. After a large meal, a constant pain may occur in the upper abdomen.

Indigestion, also known as dyspepsia is a stomach problem. Indigestion can cause heartburn due to stomach acid reflux. It also irritates esophagus. Indigestion leaves a bitter or sour taste in the mouth.

If you feel an acid problem in your stomach then chew some basil leaves. To prevent, chew basil every morning. Slowly suck on a small piece of jaggery. A glass of chilled milk is a quick remedy for hyperacidity and heartburn.

Indigestion Symptoms

Following are the symptoms of indigestion: Pain in belly, Nausea, Bloating of stomach, Uncontrolled burping, Heartburn, Flatulence, Acid regurgitation, difficulty swallowing (good indication of anxiety).

Indigestion Causes

Following are the causes of indigestion Fast eating without chewing properly, Heavy meal, Consuming excess alcohol, Smoking, Pregnancy, Peptic ulcer, Stress and anxiety Anti-inflammatory drugs, Changes in lifestyle, Diseases that affect digestive organs.

Although hyper secretion of hydrochloric acid and reflux of gastric acid are the primary reasons for hyperacidity and heartburn respectively, following are some other causes of both. Not eating on time, eating fried and spicy food regularly, stress, anxiety and insomnia, obesity, pregnancy, excessive smoking, drinking excessive alcohol, and wearing tight clothes.

Remedies for acid indigestion

To prevent acid indigestion put some lemon juice or cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it before the meal.

Other Remedies

Every 3 to 4 hours drink water with 2 to 3 drops of mint essence in it. Massage your stomach with a mixture of 2 to 3 drops of garlic oil and half a cup of Soya oil. Ginger tea after meal promotes digestion. Herbal tea prepared using blackberry, raspberry, mint and camomile is effective for indigestion. Take one glass of honey and lemon juice, both mixed in equal quantity. For instant relief add some baking soda to one glass of water and drink it.

Indigestion Diet

Avoid large meals, take small and frequent meals. Increase water intake and drink herbal tea. Abstain from smoking and alcoholic beverages. Avoid tea, coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine. Avoid hot spicy and fatty foods. Restrict intake of chocolates.

Other Suggestions for Indigestion

Avoid wearing tight clothes. Take at least 30 minutes walk daily. Decrease your stress level by relaxing. Do not play active sports immediately after meal. Regular exercise is good for digestive system. Eat your meals on time and chew them properly.

Peppermint tea can be used to neutralize the acid levels in your stomach. This recipe is per cup... 1 peppermint tea bag (or loose leaf peppermint tea) 1 star of anise (found in most health food stores) 1 Tbsp lavender flowers (you must use a food grade lavender, any other kind can be loaded with chemicals that will make you sick). Steep for 3 1/2 to 4 minutes, strain (best to use a tea ball) and let cool. Drink this 4-5 times per day and cut back on foods high in acidity for a few weeks to give your insides a chance to heal.

Baking soda with water helped relieve the indigestion almost immediately!

My husband has tried many remedies; but none of them seemed to work for indigestion. Finally my husband tried raw grated black radish mixed with live yogurt consumed before meals and it gave amazing results.

I take 1 serving of live yogurt before each meal. I also place a hot water rubber pot (the water as hot as I can stand) put on the sore spot (the stomach), the pain goes away pretty soon. The next day I am completely well!!!

Remedies for Heartburn

Almonds are quite effective in treating heartburn; chew a few almonds when you experience heartburn. Ginger root with honey taken after meals is effective for treating heartburn.

Diet for Hyperacidity problems

Fruits like apple, watermelon and banana are recommended for people with hyperacidity problem. Avoid fried foods, pickles, hot and spicy foods. Take your meals regularly on time, don’t skip any meals. Drink plenty of water. Avoid garlic, onion, pepper, radish and cabbage. Avoid unripe fruits. Do not haste while eating, always chew you food properly (30 chews per bite). Include plenty of green and leafy vegetables in your diet.

Other Suggestions for Hyperacidity and Heartburn

To prevent acid reflux, maintain proper posture after your meal. Never go to bed or lie down immediately after a meal.

Take a half a cup of cold milk and squeeze 2 to 3 drops of lemon juice. Drink it without stirring.

Take a spoonful of yellow mustard and down it with a cup of water.

Mix well 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons of honey in 8 oz. and very warm water. Have it first thing in the morning and in the evening around 8:00 pm or 2 hours before bedtime. Drink down in continuous large gulps until empty. Note: This mixture can also be used as an energizing tonic, if used every morning and evening for 6 weeks. Over time you will fell revitalized and more energetic.

This is an unusual remedy for heartburn due from fatty foods, junk foods, alcohol, or spicey foods. Cleanse, dry and grind an egg shell into powder form. It has no taste but you can add 1 tsp. to your tea and add another tsp. of honey.

Sucking on a clove may relieve you from acidic reflux.

Having a cup of vanilla ice cream may help.

Eating lemon strips mixed in salt helps to prevent heartburn.

Eating watermelon and a banana will help to cool stomach down.

1 tsp. baking soda in ½ c., warm water helps heart burn.

Grate a raw black radish mixed with live yogurt consumed before each meal for indigestion.

1 serving of live yogurt before each meal.

For pain of indigestion or heartburn, place hot water bottle on the stomach.
