Guest guest
--- I love to sew. Although I must say that I am not a very good seamstress. What I love to sew are blankets and quilts. I have made all of my nieces and nephews and my two boys quilts or blankets. I have even made them for friends. It is so much fun creating something. I also love to make hand bags. They are so simple and cute. It is not a cheap hobby to have, but then again, most aren't. I get the love of sewing from my mom. I have made a couple of peices of clothing, once a shawl/poncho type thing in a see-through material to wear over tank tops or bathing suits. It was cute. I have made pajama pants for my kids when they were small, and my husband has asked me recently to make him some. I also wanted to ask about labs. I am 2 months post op. HOw often should we have our labs done? I guess I should check my book, but I don't remember it saying in there how often. It is really great to be able to talk with others who have gone through the same things or are going through the same things. The other day I went through all of the clothes in my closet trying them on to see what now fits me, and what clothes I still have to wait on. It is hard to see the changes in the mirror. I do notice some, but still. It is easier to notice when I try on clothes. I have lost a total of 70 lbs since my surgery Nov. 7th. Exactly two months tomarrow. I can't beleive it. My watch fits me again, my rings too. I had o go and get a new bra because the others don't fit me. It makes me feel so good. I am so excited. I can't believe that it is happening. I never thought that I would get below 300 lbs again in my life, and now it is happening. I don't mean to go on and on, but it's hard explaining it to others, like my husband. He says he understands the joy that I feel, but I honestly don't think that he can completely comprehend it. To me it is incredible. I just want all of you out there that are thinking of having wls, or are about to have it done, or have recently had it, don't despair. There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and Dr.K and staff are the right ones to put you onto the path to find it. God Bless to all. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you!!! Tabbatha Burleson in Avenal Ca.

Guest guest
Tabbatha I have only done my labs on a yearly basis...except for once when Dr. K ordered labs because I was having a bleeding problem. (vit. k too low at about 3 years post-op..that is when ADEKs was added to my vitamin intake). Dr. K actually saw me on a regular basis because I was able to go to EVERY follow-up appointment AND every support meeting. I asked him about labs and he said...I see you all the time, you look healthy, you feel healthy...no reason to run labs. If you can go to all your follow-up appointments Dr. K will determine the need for labs at that time. (you will ALWAYS, ALWAYS do yearly labs) If you are not able to go to Dr. K for all the regular follow- up appointments I personally would have labs done at 6 months then yearly, making SURE Dr. K was able to look over the results. Each of our cases can be a bit different....YOU should read your book, then call the office to clairify any questions you may have. Guest guest
Sewing was such a great part of my life... when I HAD to sew in order to have cute clothes that weren't store-made for old ladies. Now I no longer face that dilema. I too love to sew quilts (which I tie) and occasional gift items. As to your weight loss, save one outfit as a permanent reminder of where you will NEVER ever be again. Just think: today you weigh under 300. Never again will your weight begin with a 3. And before you can blink an eye (within the year), it will begin with a " 1 " . Hang in there girl! Bobbe in Paso. 285=24. 3/03. 167=16. Guest guest
Tabbatha I absolutely love quilting. It is a wonderful way not only to express yourself, but relax. I am relatively new at quilting. However, I found that quilting is an expensive hobby. One can never have too much fabric in their " stash " . I am so glad to find others in this DS site that like to sew. I can't put together a dress or anything, but I sure can quilt. I made a quilt for my son. Needless to say he was astonished that I could make something so nice. I informed him that alot of men quilt too. Tabbatha, you have really lost the weight in such a short time!! Congradulations!! I had my surgery Oct 10th and haven't lost as much as you, but I am still pleased. without this surgery, I never would have been able to lose as I am now. With this DS surgery, I have been granted an extension of life, literally. Before, my diabetes and blood pressure were out of control. Now they're under control. Feels great. I tried to explain to Roommate Ricky, that I feel soooo good now that I really didn't realize how ill I was before. Ricky didn't " get it " . Take care Tabbatha and keep posting
