Guest guest
My son is 8 years old and was on Abilify for about the last 6 months. He is not aggressive but we were trying Abilify to help with his stimming behaviors and hyperactivity. I can say it did definitely calm him down, so much so he almost completely stopped what little speech he had. He was very happy and quiet, stims went down a little bit. He gained a significant amount of weight, developing an almost OCD like behavior over food. We had to lock the fridge and cupboard. We are currently trying Lexapro and Vyvanse. Expressive speech has improved since stopping Abilify. Bradley Owen’s mom
Guest guest
Have you tried Melatonin in the p.m. to help with sleep? It really helps Owen sleep through the night. Bradley Owen’s mom
Guest guest
hi my name is lisa i got 3 kids on the spectrum i got a story true that might help ya out one night my 2 yrold threw a hissy and hit her brother with a match box car left a small mark by his eye i think nothing of it send him to school school ends he comes home with a dhs worker . she goes your boy said his sissy did this is this true im looking at her like youe kidding me right so they check everything clean house no abuse blah blah blah i even take ny son to the doctor told hr the story she never laughed so hard in her life even to say i never see a child abuser attack with there pinky nail being it was so slight a mark next day a follow up worker comes 2 minutes in my son takes my other sons toy they start fighting grabbing faces screaming i hold my cup tea up smile and say kids never heared a thing since cased closed,my piont is kids do say and act not always the way we want but heythere kids autistic or not best thing you can do for your child i think is dont sweat things like that are normal believe me Subject: helpTo: autism-aspergers Date: Thursday, July 7, 2011, 7:30 PM I haven't been here in a while so I have probably missed posts on this topic but I want to ask anyway. My 5 yr old autistic is starting to have some very bad outburst. Her latest is she will start screaming "Don't hit me don't hit me" and covering her head like someone has beat her. She has never been hit and is not around any violent atmosphere. She is normally a sweet and peaceful child and this is something new. We try to keep a close eye on what shows she watches on tv and we are at a loss as to where this has come from. She starts kindergarten in a month and I worry about her having one of these meltdowns and the way the school system is set up, they will call DHS and come in and take her away until they finish an investigation. I know that we have not mistreated her in any way and these episodes are strictly autism but the way the school system and law is here, it's guilty till proven innocent and if they took her away, that would do so much emotional damage to her. Any advice as to what to do? I thought about talking to her doctor to see what programs that might help her. Also the greatest pain is watching your precious child looking at you in terror screaming those words. The last episode happened when I was getting some popsicles out for the children and asked her what flavor she wanted. It was so bad. I still cry over it at night.
