Guest guest
OK I love this solution I recently had ants outside my house, too close for my comfort. I mixed a power only of the sugar and boric acid and sprinkled it around the ant hole. GONE! I have a humming bird feeder that because of what it is draws ants too. This is something I just thought came with the territory of feeding the hummingbirds and would change the solution frequently to get rid of the ants that made their way into the sugar solution and drowned. Any way I made a paste and painted the branches around and where I hung the feeder. GONE again! Of course I live In AZ and it's dryer I suppose I would have to re paint if there was rain. I just had to share this incase it may help other outside too. d From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help! I have what I think are ants on my kitchen counter. They look like ants in away but are the size of a pin head. They to not trail in as ants though. They just seem to appear if there is ever any food or sweet substance on the counter for even just a brief period of time. Since they don't trail in I can't tell where they're coming from. Once I clean up with a deteregent they disaper but once I start cooking bam!! There they are. I don't want to use any chemicals, of course, and since this is a natural group I thought I would ask here.D
Guest guest
Thank you Daknee for sharing your experience. I too have 2 hummingbird feeders and sometimes ants may go to feed in them as well, even though the hummingbird feeders are hung up high, but I haven't had a problem with them this summer. Your solution that you made on the branches was a great idea. I am happy that the boric acid and sugar worked for you. I suggest this solution to all my family and friends, and sometimes like my mom, she has no patience and goes for the pesticides, oh well..you do have to have some sort of patience with organic's and pesticide free environment, it may take a little bit of work on your part, but its worth it every step of the way. Blessings to you, Michele From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help! I have what I think are ants on my kitchen counter. Guest guest
I know what you mean about being patient with the natural way. Too me it is alway worth it, however with this remedy I think It work very fast or just as fast as spraying. d From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help! Guest guest
yes, I am an organic gardener, and we must have patience for this. I had bugs are on the snap peas, I can even spray this with rototone natural organic concentrate, but I don't. I go out either in the early morning, or before dust and pick them off, I do the same with cucumber beetles on my summer squash flowers, I have slugs on my lettuce and I use this sluggo thing, that is made with iron pellets and even animals can eat this, and it wont hurt them, and I simply just rather pick off the slugs. When I was a kid I just loved playing with bugs, it was my thing...I remember my mom calling out to me to come get the bug in the house, she was always terrified of whatever it was, it never seemed to faise me. I rather eat the bug than eat pesticides, that's for sure more protein..(just kidding) From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help! Guest guest
I just have to say given what Michele said about eating bugs. Cold Stone Creamery at one time sold, I'll say novelty, toppings such as ants and crickets for their ice cream. d From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help! Guest guest
yes, in the 60's my dad had told me that he was able to buy a chocolate bar that had ants in it and this was trick you'd play on your friends..some goof, no? A bit like Nestle's crunch bars.. I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. From: daknee205 <daknee205 (DOT) com>Subject: [ ] Bug/Insect Problem Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 9:20 PM Help!
