For important information you should know about Breggin, M.D. and his

book

Talking Back to Ritalin. He is as knowldgeable as anyone in the country and a

crusader against the drugging of children and of adults.

Dear Deanna, Please don't give Ritalin to any child. My nephew took it for

almost two months and it had awful side effects; such as constant nausea,

stomach aches, and diarrhea just to name a few. My sister-in-law caved in to

the pressure from her sons school and gave him Ritalin, when the doctor gave

her the prescription, he also gave her an 81/2 by 11 page filled with the

side effects of this drug. After reading it, my head was literally standing

on end. In some other children, it almost made them like zombies. My

daughters school tried to push Ritalin on her for almost four years, so I

asked quite politely, " Do you have a medical degree? " Of course, the answer

was no. My reply was then " who are you to try to prescribe medication or make

a medical diagnosis? " This was very effective in keeping their resounding big

mouths shut. I also told them on more than one occassion, that if they

thought it was so safe, why don't you take it for a month or so and see how

you feel; they didn't like that response either. It really required a little

more interaction with her teacher to keep her more focused and keep

redirecting her. I have also found that the herb Kava Kava keeps her calmer.

I hope this helps.

Deanna,

My former girlfriend has adult onset ADHD and one of her sons has it

mildly. I got her a light/sound machine, known by aficionados as a

flicker machine. A few months later she showed me a niche magazine for

ADHD. It had an article that said, unequivocally, that everyone with

ADHD should have a flicker machine.

ADHD is one of the many so-called soft neurological disorders whose

sufferers have too much waking theta. I'll explain. Normal consciousness

where we spend most of our day, thinking, talking, etc, this is beta.

Theta is the floaty dreamplace just before you wake up or go to sleep.

So, this means that people with ADHD are living in the normal world with

a dreamstate mind. That is why they can leave the room in the middle of

a sentence and go sort clothes in the other room. Their attention goes

instantly from one subject to another, as in a dream.

Setting a flicker machine on something between 14-18 Hz and letting them

listen with headphones will help a great deal to focus their mind while

they do other things. It's amazing! Or, you can record it on a tape or

CD and they can listen on a speaker. It made the difference between

coping at work & not coping for my friend.

The best flicker machine for this purpose, IMO, is the Photosonix Muse#

(muse sharp). It retails for about $179 I believe. Ed at

Cerebrx.com sells them. His gadgets have been coming up a lot lately,

haven't they? Ed handles so many of the exotic gadgets I like he is

almost a one-stop shopping store for me. ;-) And, no, I don't make

anything from anybody for anything in my recommendations! Ever!

Do not ask any health related questions when discussing such gadgets

with Ed. As with zappers & other health machines, the FDA gets testy

with vendors who say the wrong words. You are supposed to know your

purpose. He can only discuss relaxation.

A flicker machine has goggles & headphones. It has preset programs & can

be used on manual. This is what you want. Set it to 14 Hz I listen to it

while working.

For an ADHD support group, yahoogroups is bound to have several.

,

No, this is not for testing ADD, it is for helping with the symptoms.

And, US-Shamanics, listed in that link, is another good source for some

of these gadgets. Brad Hicks there is another neuronaut vendor, like Ed

courtney, in brain tech.

  • 1 year later...

Okay, last one for today. The Tourette link mention in 's post is one

that you might want to check out sometime. I read and take note of most

anything she submits. She is wise and a couple years ahead of us in the

OCD/ADD arena. I sure wish you had internet access at home. Let me know if

you ever want me to research something for you and hard copy it to you.

Have a good weekend. I'm really looking forward to Tuesday night!

Love,

M.

P.S. Give the boys a big hug for me. They are both on my mind a lot with

the start of school, attention and sensory issues, etc. But don't tell

that Luke can eat two double cheeseboooooooooooogers like he can

because I found almost half of the second burger in the wrapper at the

bottom of the bag!
