Many doctors use it to treat Autistic children. If I am correct..it is FDA approved(not sure). I have heard good and bad things about the side effects.

Ok mom's I have a question! My 15 yr old who was dx with ADHD.ODD and possibly Aspergers was taking Vvyanse 20 mg in the morning and Abilify in the evenings. Well the doctor wants to put him on Rispidal .25 mg in the morning and evening. The insurance wont cover it because its been almost 2 weeks since she prescribed it. Is this a safe drug for odd/aspie kids?

Risperdal is approved by the FDA for treatment of Autism, but the side effects on children need to be weighted!!! They can be extreme! To: "autism-aspergers " <autism-aspergers > Sent: Monday, January 30, 2012 3:52 PM Subject: Re: Rispidal?

Yup, I agree with - the doc mentioned this as a possible med for R but

I'm reluctant to have him try it. And like a few others have posted, it has been

approved by the FDA for Autism in order treat " irritability " ...
