Guest guest
, I do not know the answer to your question. I just wanted to let you know that I am praying that your husband does not loose his job. - Subject: How fast can Peachcare kick in?To: autism-georgia Date: Saturday, October 18, 2008, 6:06 PM Hi everyone,There's a really strong chance that my hubby will lose his job on Monday morning, and we have our insurance through his job, and I am a contract employee w/o benefits and my company can't move me to full-time with benefits at this point.So...if anyone knows how fast PeachCare, etc. can kick in and has any experience with moving that situation along, I'd love to hear your thoughts. We are in Fayette County if that info is relevant. Thanks in advance!- mom to Bobby, age 5, dx "mild" autism at age 2, very sensory-seeking, and talking more and more every day!____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __
Guest guest
My kids are on Peachcare Ins. My experience, as long as there is no waiting list or the state hasn't put a hold on people joining up... It only took us about 1 month for my kids to be covered through Peachcare. You will pay your premiums one month in advance so when you fill out the paper work (and you can do this on-line thru www.peachcare.org) you will go ahead and send your first months premium at that time (or when they tell you to (I can't really remember exactly since my kids have been on Peachcare for about 3 years now)) then the next month your kids should have coverage. I will also tell you that once you get your package in the mail that your kids are covered... You will have to pick which insurance company you want to go with... Ex: Wellcare, Peachstate, etc. It has been my experience that Wellcare covers better/easier for Autism related things than any of the others. They will pay for more testing and also more therapies for Autism (my son has been privately tested for OT and Speech and also more extensive testing for his Autism by a psychologist who he also gets social therapy with). It has also been my experience that they will also cover better for some medications. For instance, both of my kids take singulair for allergies every year and we were able to get it covered for my oldest (he has Asperger's Autism) and also my youngest (who has terrible allergies) even though they usually only cover this medication for kids with Asthma. Again, this has been my experience, but you may want to ask others for their experiences too. Hope this helps!
