Guest guest
Hello from Washington DC: Now I can add a new line to my signature (below) - the old and the new BMI. It hadn't occurred to me to do a comparison. I think that Federal BCross/BShield would only cover the GRDS surgery for patients with a BMI of 40 or more. I'm figuring here based on my new reduced height (I've shrunk in two directions, you know) of 5'5 " (used to be 5'6 " ). The BMI on-line chart says that I am at " optimal BMI. " Imagine that! Pretty neat. By the way, many concerns during that first year seem to be behind me now. I'm eating normally now, all kinds of food, with protein first, of course. No more edema in the ankles, no more nausea from overeating or trying to take pills, and strength and endurance now SUPERIOR to what I had pre-surgery. Tomorrow I PROMISE I'll get my one-year labs scheduled (although I've had them done at least twice since the surgery). Guest guest
Sonja, Thank you for your update! It sure helps to know where I'll be in a year. I'm still trying to figure out when to stop eating before I feel too full. Sometimes I figure it out, sometimes I don't. It's a crap-shoot most of the time. My personal goal is a total of about 130lbs to lose, and I've lost 50 so far. My surgery was 11-19-07 and tomorrow is my 2 month Surgiversary. Of course, my starting BMI was just over 50, so I think I have a few more pounds to lose than you did. Congrats on your success! Jolene in Bakersfield > > OK, my surgery was Nov. 29, 2006. I haven't lost 110 lbs since Nov 2007. > > Sonja Sweek > > GRDS 11/29/06 > > -110 lbs and holding > > BMI 42.1 > 23.8 ,_._,___
