Hi Daknee,

I got the perfect solution that helps me for more than 30 yrs...

Ok listen up..

You take sugar and boric acid, it has got to be boric acid, you get this is the pharmacy.

OK..now you take the a tsp of sugar to a 1/2 tsp of boric acid and use a few drops of water, to make a paste, you dont need to make it a liquid you want to make a paste.

You get tin foil and you cut it in little piece and put the paste on to the pieces of foil and where you see the ants you put the foil there, and you will see them coming out in hundreds, leave this there for the whole day and nite, apply again tomorrow, and then you will see they will go away, they fall asleep on this solution, you will look at it and see the entire foil covered in ants...you may have to apply it a few times, but this gets rid of my sugar ants every yr.

I have been using this forever, my husband's dad was an exterminator and he told me to use this..works every time...

Blessings,

Michele

Help! I have what I think are ants on my kitchen counter. They look like ants in away but are the size of a pin head. They to not trail in as ants though. They just seem to appear if there is ever any food or sweet substance on the counter for even just a brief period of time. Since they don't trail in I can't tell where they're coming from. Once I clean up with a deteregent they disaper but once I start cooking bam!! There they are. I don't want to use any chemicals, of course, and since this is a natural group I thought I would ask here.D

Thanks, I'll give this a try. Although I do wonder if they are ants but some type of flea. They are very small but can be seen with the naked eye. They don't trail in like the ants I've seen before. They also seem to magicly come from no where anytime a food source the like, mostly meat and sweet, comes out.

Thank you Michele for this info but my motherlanguage is dutch and I don't exactly understand what you mean with foil. Is it a piece of stuff or cotton? I looked it up in the dictionary but it said not that.

So sorry about that...

Tin foil here in the USA...its a short word for aluminum foil...do you have that where you live? if not you may use something that is pliable, because you dont want to put that paste on your walls or corners, this will stick 4ever! like um...putty to the wall, (glue)...

Perhaps they are called "no see ems"..that is funny huh?

My grandmother when we both lived in south florida and she complained to me of these no see ems, and they were ants, that the exterminator came into her home and sprayed her cupboards having so much problems with them and all...

It doesnt hurt to try this, also diamotosis earth...which is crushed up shells they cuts up the ants while they walk..I have used this, you can get this in any store that sells products like fertilizer, nursery for plants ect...

I grew up in Brooklyn New York..we got alot of short cuts to our words..and tin foil is one of them..we have a whole different language for things like "pocket book" instead of calling it a purse and I get made fun of alot because I live in Oregon on the west coast of USA, and I am from the east coast, and talk like an east coaster, everybody just loves to hear me talk!

I do hope that you find my solution to getting rid of ants (sugar ants) that it works for you, pass it along if it does...

Yes, I know what you're talking about I have used that outside in the garden. That may be a little mess for me to use in the kitchen though. If I could find the "no see ums" point of entry I would try some there. I do appreciate the information you are providing and enjoy the language education the thread has provided as well. Aren't we all so similarly different? LOL!

Ok today is day 2 after trying this remedy. NO creatures. although I was not sure they were ants. I didn't think it would hurt to try it. Oddly enough they really didn't swarm on to the treat I prepared only a little bit. I left it on the counter overnite the next morning, no sign of them or since.

Thanks

Hi D

Glad that this may have helped..I have been using this for all kinds of ants, even ants that like grease and it always worked, sometimes though when it is a bad case I had to apply it several times, so it pays to keep up with it, and you know its not the kind of poison that will linger in your home, no smells and no sprays.

Yes, it was exactly what I was looking for something relativly safe for me to use especially around my kitchen area. In my opinon the ants were better for me to eat that any commercial posion I could use in the kitchen. LOL! Thanks So Much Again!!

a bit crunchy though, I remember when I was a kid I was eating Fig Newtons and it was in the dark, and when we put the light on there was ants in it, the kind that you are describing, the hard to see kind, a bit of extra protein for me, I did feel queezy though just knowing I was eating ants...

I am an organic gardener, and I pick off the pests, I'd rather eat aphids than posion any day, I'd rather see slugs then know my produce was sprayed with pesticides.
