Dearest Advocates:

As many of you are aware, there has been some significant changes to Georgia’s disability waivers (NOW and COMP) since November 1, 2008. We have heard from many families and providers the concerns regarding this transition (including but not limited to the following: Prior Authorization PA / budget issues, service category issues, lack of supports/services since November 1st, rate cap and maximum issues, etc).

In order to have a better appreciation for how this transition is impacting the families of children and adults with disabilities in Georgia, we are going to be preparing a comprehensive “story” report to show those that have been involved in this transition the impact on services and families. It will also validate if there is truly a concern or not in the system.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

If your family has been impacted by this transition, please go to the following website and tell your transition story:

www.lovingcareatlanta.com

Loving Care Family Services has agreed to prepare a report of such concerns for us to present to the Office of Developmental Disabilities and other disability organizations.

Please note: NONE of the information you submit will be used to solicit any business but will only be used to help advocate for change in the system. Loving Care Family Services has gracious offered to help us understand the issues and concerns of families impacted in a very systematic way.

The goal is to help all the families receive the necessary support and services they need per their Individual Support Plan (ISP). Only through education are we going to help the process and hopefully work towards a positive outcome.

The due date for submission of your transition stories is December 4 at noon.

Please take a quick moment to help make sure everyone with disabilities has services in Georgia.

“UNITED – WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!”

Sincerely,

Heidi and Heidi Fernandez

P.S. Please note, if you have the Beckett / Deeming Waiver – This does not impact you and your waiver.
