Guest guest
I think there is a "reasonable" condition applied to bus rides. Compare to other bus riders and the distance to the school and how long it takes. Does anyone know if there are standards for how long a bus ride for special needs kids can be here in Georgia? We are in Cherokee County. **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
I would really like to know this as well. I happen to work at a wonderful place and they are very accomodating and I pick up and drop off my son every day. He is in elementary school and he was picked up early at 2pm and would be transported to a high school where he would sit and wait for the next bus, how would transport him home. He would get home at 4:30pm. I just don't feel like this is reasonable. Me and my husband adjusts our work schedule to take and get him from school. Guest guest
There is not anything specific about the length of bus rides for students BUT precedence is that a child with specials needs should not have to ride much longer than a "typical" student. I would have a fit if my child took 2 1/2 hours to get home. I would also question elementary and high school being on the same bus. I know some schools pull kids early to get on busses and before I would complain about that I would look at the reasons. Are there students that would have a hard time handling the crowds using normal dismissal, etc.? I am watching the bus for my daughter because I know the bus is dropping off at 3 schools. Getting to school late everyday is not acceptable to me. She is very slow and needs to leave class a little early to get ont he bus (otherwise they would be waiting on her).
