Guest guest
Hi all, Am here at the wonderful BW in Delano recuperating and getting a bit stronger each day. When I got here they almost didn't let me get the surgery due to low potassium! Dee called me the night before surgery after they got a look at my labs & said I might have to be admitted and wait until they could get my potassium up. BUT, she had me take a bucketload of potassium supplements that I had with me and so by 4:45 next morning I passed muster! Surgery went well with one complication, which Dr. K thanked me for! He said I turned it into an " exciting case " when he found a hiatal hernia " big enough to put his fist through " after he got inside. That added some time to the surgery, but I'll probably have a LOT less trouble with reflux now! LOL I feel like I'm slow in getting my " oomph " back, but keep reminding myself that I'm almost 65 years old and just had a major procedure done. I haven't needed any pain meds since they took me off the morphine drip at DRMC. I'm walking as far as the Perko Cafe and back plus walking the BW's hallways each day. Eating is OK, although I just have no interest in it. (Ha! Did I say that??) Oh boy, the very best is being waited on by the hubby! And having him give me a shower almost makes the whole operation worth it! It's been a while since we had so much fun in the shower! OK, here's a funny story for you. Vic has been so good and just doing everything for me, including taking care of emptying my drains and changing dressings. He was a little nervous the first time, but he got the job done and pinned the drain bulbs to the very bottom of the binder. The next morning when I got up I lifted up my nightie and said, " Honey, it's not that I don't appreciate the effort, but is there any way you could make these into something OTHER than testicles for me? " LOL He had pinned them so low and close to center that all night when I'd get up or move about, they would bang around between my legs like a couple of rubbery cojones - definitely NOT a feeling I enjoyed! We both got a laugh out of that one. And guys, I don't know how you put up with the darned things!! Jolene, thank you again so very much for your wonderful visit! You just made it all so real for me and gave me so much to look forward to! Pat, thank you, too, for your wonderful upbeat card; it came at a perfect time and meant so much to me! I probably won't be back online until we get home to Bellingham on the 24th, but I thought I'd log on here at the motel to let you know I made it through to the other side and it's good! No regrets, no problems - just a brand new wonderful life to look forward to! Dr. K is an angel on earth! I am definitely in love with the man! (Yeah, I know it's called " transference " in psychology and all that blather, but I'm just in love with the guy right now!) I'm not sure I'd have gotten here without the help and support of Marla and all of you on the message board who have been so patient, so understanding and so willing to share your knowledge over the past few months. Each of you is one of my " DS Angels " and will remain a part of my life forever! Love to all, Bellingham, WA
Guest guest
, Thank you for posting and I'm glad everything is going well! It sounds like you're in great hands! As for your 'cojones' at least they'll be removable in a few weeks, but yeah, I have no idea how guys do it either! *hugs* Anita in San > > Hi all, > Am here at the wonderful BW in Delano recuperating and getting a bit > stronger each day.
