Guest guest
I returned home tonight from DRMC after being admitted last Tuesday. To say I am tired and in pain is an understatement. To be succinct, let's just say our Dee and I are twins. One really odd thing is that my diaphragm and lungs have shifted so that the 'low side' is where the 'high side' should be which means the large lung is on the heart side of the body which, in turn, crowds the heart according to both doctors. Go figure. I can never be normal in anything at all. The specialist diagnosed me with a couple of forms of asthma. Apparently I've had them all my life but it/they was/were misdiagnosed as 'shortness of breath due to obesity' because, as we all know, every medical issue in obese people is caused by obesity including hangnails. There were/are many other things but not worth reporting on the board. Thank you Jo for the card and Marta for the e-mail although I was not able to access the internet from hospital. They really need to put in wireless as it _is_ 2008 and everyone and their dog is computer connected these days. Ok,that's the report. Guest guest
Oh, Geeze, Jim! I thought you were back home days ago! I feel bad I didn't see you. Anyway, so you have a new diagnosis? That's interesting. (bad sign when an Internist says that about you!) Hmmm. Well, the good thing, look at the bright side after all, is that you don't " need " as much lung capacity now that you are a mere fraction of your former size, right? Hopefully with proper treament your lung function will improve and you will have more energy for doing things you enjoy. Marta
Guest guest
My bed was awfully cold without you. yes, several new diagnosis, Marta. I've learned that the minimum does not equate with adequate vitamin ingestion and I'm paying for it big time. The worst part is this osteoporosis that is so bad. Dee, feel free to add, chew out, comment on that part of my diagnosis. If I state something on the board, it's open for comment, good, bad, or ugly. I met our Dani who is quite pretty! she does need our prayers for peace in all of this. Dr. K has solved the medical problem as Dani's dad explained, but the psychological damage from the experience is another matter. So, keep thoughts and prayers going for her. I met our newest DS brother, Jim M, from the Sacramento area (I think that's where they said he is from). He is really a cool man! You should see the ink work he has! We had some heart-to-heart chats as I am 5-years out and he is brand-spanking new. I gave some hints as how to avoid some pit falls and shared with him my 'little revelations' such as the space between me and the steering wheeler, and putting a drink between my legs as I drive -- the little things to look forward to that obese-challenged people can not understand. he has a marvellous attitude. his wife is really a delightful person, too. when they e-mail me, I'll guide them to this community as I told them all about us and about whom to avoid (read Jo, Marta, Mel etc, etc, etc. LOL). He was rather jazzed about our online family. So when he joins, make sure to make him feel welcomed! As usual, the staff was wonderful! I had former nurses and CNAs who came from other parts of DMRC to see me so that really made me feel good. The food was really good this trip and I actually asked for the receipt for one of the entrées. I didn't get it, though. Dr. Sani (Sangi?) is absolutely wonderful -- as a person and as a physician. When he walked into my room the first time it was a Dr. K experience all over again --- WOW. Jim Who should explain the inside joke about the bed some day but prefers to make everyone wonder just a wee bit if.......... >:-) That's supposed to be a devil grinning. Sorry your bed was so empty this time...perhaps you have been ignoring you bed-mate and she was punishing you! Ya know us gals..lol Soooo do you care to elaborate on your problems? You never know who's life you will be saving. I'm not sure what your problems are but I sure do agree with your statement " the minimum does not equate with adequate vitamin ingestion " That is why our labs are sooooooo important, we can tweak and personalize our intake as we go. On a personal note, I have from the very beginning taken MORE than the minimum and have tweaked as needed. Hope your doing ok. Guest guest
Jim, I will try to stop in tomorrow afternoon. Hope things go well for you. But you are hogging all of Dr.K's time so stop it! I just need two little, tiny chicken butts lopped off in the office but everytime I call for an appointment they say Jim has taken all the slots. Marta who is wondering why Jim thinks he needs to copyright his silly little emails...
