Guest guest
, How is she doing? Do you remember me from e-mailing back and forth two years ago? My boys still have gut issues even after two years of SCD and one year of enzymes. So, I understand your struggles and frustrations. I would love to hear how your daughter is doing now. and Garrett continue to improve but very, very slowly. They are still nonverbal but now understand so much more of what we say to them. Their digestive tract is just that injured. When we first tried GFCF with our daughter 2 years ago, we withheld everything from her for 8 days because parents were telling me that she would eventually eat. Well, she ended up in the hospital with dehydration. We then did over 500 hours of full time feeding therapy with her and she still only eats about 5 things.....chips, french fries, meatballs (which I sneak tons of veggies into), rice bread with peanut butter and pear sauce when I have the time to spend an hour feeding her 2 whole ounces of it because she's gagging. She has been GFCF for over a year now and has been on enzymes for over 2 years. Her food choices have never expanded like I was told would happen. Her gut is almost healed and we went from 12 diarrheas a day to one formed bowel movement a day, so I am very grateful for that. But as far as variety in her foods, I just keep trying everyday and hope for the best!>> Lays are gfcf, I'm talking plain & not sour cream & onion. Christel, > we've discussed this before, Allie has been cold turkey gfcf, she has > far more significant issues than just not wanting to eat, mito > disorder, chronic metabolic acidosis. Yet again, telling families to > withhold all foods from kids with autism until they eat what you give > them without knowing underlying metabolic issues can actually be > deadly as we found out the hard way.> > Debi>
