Guest guest
a vice president with a 4 month old downs baby...... Well........... she will need to decide if she wants to be a good mom or a good vice president. There is no way she can do both. And in regards to her being our advocate..... she can speak sweet nothings to us all she wants. Eli Lilly is controlling the Bush administration. Will that be happening with McCain. REember... Bush promised to investigate thimerosal. Instead, he employed Eli Lilly officials in his cabinet and the homeland security team. What did they do... well they put a rider in the patriot act and the homeland security bill sparing them from any liability from the children they have harmed. I don't trust any politicians. Guest guest
Hey, Judgemental and unfair, all wrapped up in one little package. So what else can't " good " moms do? Can they be CEOs, can they be garbage collectors? Can they be doctors, can they be attorneys? Please let me know. What is the acceptable occupation for a special needs mother, if anything, besides staying home? I find it disheartening that in 2008 women are SO judgemental of other women. Half the people on here said " Wow! She is one helluva lady to be in politics and have 5 kids at the same time! " The other half said " What a horrible woman - she should be at home taking care of her baby and not leading a country. " Unreal. Pelosi, our current speaker of the house, has 5 kids as well. Where is the outrage? I digress.... > > a vice president with a 4 month old downs baby...... > Well........... she will need to decide if she wants to be a good mom > or a good vice president. Guest guest
Pelosi's kids are not a 4 month old with special needs and a pregnant 17 year old scared out of her mind. I would rail on a father who chose to be on the road 24/7 campaigning at such a critical time in the life of his family. Why would you subject two seventeen-year-olds to that kind of national scrutiny. I think it is obscene that they flew poor Levi out and made him greet McCain at the airport. No other boyfriend of a running mate would have been put before the cameras in that way. Don't say they are off-limits and then put Bristol in the seat behind McCain while McCain made his acceptance speech. The McCain children should have been there in EVERY SINGLE SHOT. What kind of point are they trying to make? No one said "No mother" should be VP. They said this woman shouldn't be, not now. While we are at it, do not hold her up as a paragon of virtue for choosing to have Trig even though she knew he would have Down's Syndrome. She is vehemently pro-life. She had no choice. I was initially conflicted that I felt she should not have put herself up for consideration. It is not a choice I would have made when my youngest was four months old and I would love to see a woman in the White House. That was before I found out the other things her family is dealing with, the position she takes on most things and the way she handled her SOB brother-in-law's situation. I repeat, Not this Woman. Guest guest
I gotcha. Except you went very far off topic with this one. I agree on all the other stuff about the boyfriend, etc... whatever. What a circus. I would like to know what connection you have to the Palin family though to know that Bristol is " scared out of her mind. " How could you possibly know that? Jeez, maybe she planned it herself. How would you know? Obama's kids are little. He has been campaigning 24/7 for years to be president. His wife is a high powered attorney. How many full time nannies do you think they employ? Rail away, please! Chelsea Clinton was in grade school when Bill was elected. The Bush twins were as well - and have been subjected to scrutiny their entire teen and young adult years. But then again they are all " normal " kids, right? Eeek. I never held Palin up and congratulated her for having (choosing) her baby with Down Syndrome. You have the wrong poster. I won't get into an abortion debate on this group list. You can't know what choice you would make in her shoes because you are not in her shoes, and never will be, like the rest of us :-) No one came knocking on my door asking me to be VP. I shall of course, agree to disagree, on this particular issue. > > Pelosi's kids are not a 4 month old with special needs and a pregnant 17 year old scared out of her mind. Guest guest
You can't be a good guy and win an election. You can't win an election without accepting campaign finance contributions. McCain has tried to reform campaign finance (I have read a lot about him since 2003), he doesn't like the fact that big companies have so much power and influence in government. He was ridiculed for accepting campaign finance contributions early on, but you cannot win without playing the game!! > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: mvpoppins > > > > I don't trust any politicians. > > ====>There is not one of them who has not taken Big Pharma's money or will not take it. Guest guest
You are making assumptions here. You are assuming that she forced her daughter's boyfriend to participate, that her 17 year-old daughter is scared out of her mind, and that she forced her daughter. My assumption (that could be wrong as yours could be) is that she discussed the decision and likely outcomes to her family and made the decision together. The great thing about 17 year-olds, especially when they have a supportive family, is that life is often more of an adventure than fear at that point. No way would I NOT have wanted to be there to support my mother if I had been Bristol. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, just because she's a female who has an outward display of sex, something the majority of 17 year-olds have done, does not mean she should be locked away. No 17 year-old boy who has fathered a child would be expected to stay away, he can hide his sin and no one cares. You are also assuming Palin did not abort her baby with Down Syndrome because she had made a stand for something and had to follow through on it. I am assuming she did not abort her baby because she loved and wanted her baby. She could have easily snuck off to some far-away place and had an abortion and no one ever knew. There are a lot of women who actually love their disabled fetuses. I could argue Pelosi has no right being in her position when she has kids needing her to help with grandkids, that any grandmother's role should be to support her kids. I could argue Pelosi's kids are so pitiful because she chooses politics over being there for them. But again, it's none of my business that's between her and her family. Would you vote for another conservative woman that had older children? I wouldn't vote for Pelosi because of her family status but because she's liberal and vote conservative. No biggy, just a philosophical difference. If someone doesn't like Palin because she's conservative, it's far easier, honest, and fair to say that then make a bunch of assumptions to justify simply disagreeing with political stuff.
