Guest guest
UHCF = United Healthcare Children's Foundation They offer grants up to $7000/lifetime/child for children ages 16 and under covered under a commercial insurance plan ( Not PeachCare , Wellcare or Medicaid- but medical insurance the parents pay for not subsidized by government)for treatments recommended by their physicians not covered fully or at all by their medical insurance policies. ( with ASD this encompasses majority of all therapy/treatments) Annual income cap is $20 thousand per family member ( 80 thousand for a family of four ) You fill out an application, including child's diagnosis(es), medical recomendations , income verification, and proof of no commerical insurance coverage for treatments requested . There are NO appeals processes for UHCF grants. If denied you can re- apply in one years time. Apparently there are many applications- and due to only so much funding not every applicant requesting funding can be approved by their board. So for us this is yet another " dead end " of the many " routes " I have explored to be able to provide treatments for my son I cannot afford on our income. Unfortunately, I think many parents and ASD children are living this same dilemma. Hopefully, one day soon that might change ?, and ASD treatments/therapies will be covered by commerical insurance policies. ?? Guest guest
i would continue to reapply every year. i know several families who have been approved but have not used all the funds b/c of the rules for disbursements. payments go directly to provider, not families. so not all the monies will be used. hugs and hang in there > > UHCF = United Healthcare Children's Foundation > > They offer grants up to $7000/lifetime/child for children ages 16 and > under covered under a commercial insurance plan ( Not PeachCare , > Wellcare or Medicaid- but medical insurance the parents pay for not > subsidized by government)for treatments recommended by their > physicians not covered fully or at all by their medical insurance > policies.
