Hearing Voices???

Hi, Dana. I haven't written in for awhile but this sounded so

familiar...Both of my girls have OCD and the younger one heard things and saw

things. She

explained to me once that the things she heard and saw were " very loud

thoughts. " She knew that they weren't real and once her treatment got

underway,

the voices and seeing things went away. It's just another symptom and don't

worry--it is not schizophrenia. Kelley in NV

Has anyone else had this experience from their kids? DS (9) met with

new psychiatrist yesterday and in the process of the chat, told doc

that sometimes he hears voices.

He said that he hears only his name being called and nothing else. He

knows it's the OCD and he said he ignores it.

But I was flabbergasted. The doc said that in kids with OCD, this is

not exactly typical but also not unheard of.

What do you all think? Do I have another reason to have sleepless nights?

My son said that he was hearing a voice once, but after talking it over, he

decided it was a voice that spoke in his own voice, ocd thoughts. I think that

can help determine if it is ocd or some other type of voice. Ask if the voice

is speaking in their own voice or someone else's. He said it was like that

little voice inside, but his voice. If it is like a man's voice or something, I

think that could be something else. I read that some where, but I'm not sure

where.

Hi Dana,

My son frequently hears voices. My daughter used to hear and see things only

when she was put on Geodon.(an anti-psychotic, that actually made her

psychotic).

Just to let you know, that severe stress and anxiety can also cause you to hear

things.

I know its hard , but try not to worry!

He hasn't reported seeing anything?

Has he been on any new meds?

Hugs

Judy

I hear my name being called when I am stressed. It usually happens in

the morning when I am waking up. It has an ominous feeling to it and I

usually go bolt upright with a racing heart. It is very infrequent and

I know it is just my imagination or dream/wake state triggering it.
