Guest guest
Valtrex and difllucan both altered the hepatic enzymes, so you should monitored these every two weeks, may be you should try Nystatin, it is an antifungal also but in differnce to the diflucan this one does not affect hepatic enzymes. also you can give him some selenium and milk thistle to help with immune system and protect teh liver while you are giving him these meds. Guest guest
How high out of range is the AST? This can indicate high liver enzymes which would mean you need to stop the diflucan and let those go down before continuing to try again with another antifungal. You need to pull this every 2 months, not 4 months. Low WBC generally indicates that the body is fighting an infection. Elevated MCV generally indicates you need more folic acid. It's possible that both are related to the high AST but you'll have to ask your doc about that.So here's what to do right now: Call your doc and ask if the AST is too elevated and you need to stop the antifungal. A little elevated isn't generally alarming for some docs and you can sometimes use some kind of liver support to correct it otherwise you'll need to stop and repull in a month to make sure they've gone down. Once down start with another antifungal. You'll also want to make sure that the WBC goes back up. If it doesn't, you'll need to get to the bottom of that because there is an immune reaction going on that needs to be addressed. Guest guest
AST in up to 48. We've been taking 1 week off from diflucan every 6 weeks, so our DAN said LFT wasn't necessary to do (wish I had done them now!) We've pulled the LFT on a Thursday, switched from diflucan to Lamisil on that Friday (was already a scheduled switch to prevent fungal mutation/immunity to diflucan) and I dropped the Lamisil 1 week later due to chronic diarrhea and yellowing of the stools. We're not planning on restarting anti-fungals for 2-3 more weeks (1 month off total) Thanks so much for your input. I appreciate it! Stacie > > > I would love some input on this.
