Guest guest
I had a problem with that a little over a year ago. Turned out to be a huge clump of wax that was blocking the canal. Guest guest
I had the same exact thing - also was ear wax. I would recommend NOT doing the over the counter remedy for ear wax; only makes the problem worse. [ ] Re: Ear question > I had a problem with that a little over a year ago. Guest guest
Becky, has had tubes since 2 years old , and she is now 11 years old with a current set that is about 6 months old. s ears have drained her entire life. She has had many many bloody pillows in the morning where the drainage was blood tinged. I was told that when the tube is intact and the tissue around the tube becomes irritated for many reasons, this can cause blood tinged drainage. There are two types of blood that I have seen. 1)Full blown blood dripping down the side of her face (sorry to be so graphic), 2) Blood tinges , meaning just clear drainage with tinges of blood. I am not sure what causes the different types or amounts of blood. Just FYI, is not IGA def, so I don't think it is related. I have recently learned that when she is refluxing badly, her ears flare up very bad!!! has never ever been able to keep her tubes for more than 2 years as her ears are so occluded that the tubes are non-functional and need to be replaced. The tube is a small hole, and if there is sooo much drainage and yuk in their ear canal, the tube cannot due its job to drain. For it was necessary to insert new tubes and clean her messy messy ears about every two years. She also gets them suctioned regularly at the ENT. Today we go to the ENT for the 1st time, since being on new meds for reflux. I cannot wait to see what he says when he looks in s ears. He always cringes when he looks in there, because they are always such a mess. This visit will be a nice surprise. I am also very interested in hearing his reaction to her Reflux diagnosis, and the connection to her ears. He never ever once mentioned that this may be a remote possibility. He knew complained of stomach aches, because he did a thorough history before every exam. I told any doctor who would listen about her stomach ache, and it all fell on deaf ears until her new immunologist correctly diagnosed her. This ENT is considered one of the best in the State and I truly do not believe he knows about reflux/ear infections connection. Maybe I am wrong, we will see today. Oh also, it definitely affects there hearing!!! Before s last set of tubes she was lip reading her hearing was so bad. I am ashamed to say I did not even know my daughter was doing it. Her ENT told me. I thought he was crazy. knew it and just naturally assumed this is what people did to hear. It was such a gradual thing that it just happened gradually. Looking back , there were sooo many signs , that I did not pick up on. She always had closed caption turned on her tv. When I would ask her why, she always replied, I like to read what they are saying. I thought she meant, I like to read the script. How dumb can I be!! Looking back she would always have to be in my face all the time when I would be talking to her. And so many mornings I would be talking to her from the other room, and she never responded back. I would get so aggravated because I would yell , LAUREN ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME, GET YOUR BOOK BAG AND LETS GO. Here I thought she was just being stubborn and not listening . I Feel very foolish now. I have since apologized to her for all the times she got into trouble for not obeying her mom and dad when she was told to do something. That is all in the past now, thank our heavenly father. Have a great day Sharon s mom Ear question I have a question and am searching for some opinions..Maddie has had 3 ear infections in the last month and a half. She has tubes and we have had quite a bit of drainage. She just finished zithromax and the infection seems to have cleared, but when we were at the ent today he said he noticed some blood in her ear canals. He did not seem concerned, but I am. He said her tubes are still in, and would see us again in 6 months, unless another infection happens. He said that when tubes have been in for more than 2 years-ours are only 1 year old-that they tube itself can cause infections. I was just wondering if because of the IgA def. if she might be more susceptible to that type of infection. We have never had tubes last this long and as long as we have had tubes in we have never had any problems. Her speech teacher at school said that Maddie seems to be at a standstill and not progressing anywhere. I am wondering if it is time to get another opinion or play the wait and see game. Yes, we've used them--they're Cipro and Bri is not allergic to it. Also, it doesn't hurt him like some of the other drops. I hope they work for you; Maddie deserves some relief. Still keep in mind the Rocephin, just in case. Sandi, Mom to , age 11. Guest guest
Just a thought which may or may not have anything to do with your case. My little boy (3 years old) has had an " ear infection " for over 2 months. The doctor swabed it about 2 weeks ago to determine what type of bacteria was growing to determine which antibiotic might help. As is turns out, he has a yeast infection in his ear???? Guest guest
I thought my child was the only one with a yeast infection in her ear!!!! I begged the ped. and the ENT to do an ear culture. They refused. I took her to Childrens in Philadelphia, and they did one. She had a yeast infection. They medications they were using were making it worse. She was a baby at the time. She is now 11 and I will never forget it. L.

Although the Ped looked in Bri's ear and was confused at what he saw. I realized with all of the abx, it could be yeast. We tried Diflucan (Bri was miserable with itching and we didn't want to wait for a culture) and it cleared right up!!! My son also manages to get swimmer's ear from the shower, I've never known another child to do that!!! For about a year, he had to wear a headband to make sure to keep the water out, it was fantastic. Now, he can just wear his ear plugs, which is good because the headband made it difficult for him to wash his hair. Sandi, Mom to , age 11. Guest guest
Hi-my son Bradley was given Ciprodex. The ENT told us that it is usually well managed by kids. The first drop in my kid screamed bloody murder...his ear got bright red. I tried the next morning one more time and it was the same reaction. $40 and wasted. I think he may have had a scratch inside his ear. I hope that you find something to work......ear infections are NO fun. Good luck and God bless. Amy ( mom to Bradley 2 years old, IGA Def/partial antibody def, and 6 years old going on 13) Amy Ear question Has anyone ever used the eardrops called ciprodex? after 3 days of another ear drop and 5 doses of cefzil, Maddie's ear was still bleeding and full of pus. I called the other dr-and she changed her to biaxin and these new drops. Our pharmacist siad they are new and designed for infections in kids with ear tubes. all I know is they are very expensive-as we still do not have insurance numbers-luckily our pharmacist talked to our insurance and was able to give me the biaxin to get me thru until the insurnace gets our numbers in the system on Friday. I forgot how miserable ear infections are. I hope this is not a sign of things to come with school. Becky in IN-mom to Maddie, age 8, IgA def, gerd, asthma, mild cp, ........ Guest guest
Hello , You might suggest using the sodium chlorite and gel separately. You can mix up 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of 5% sodium chlorite and add 5 ml of 10% citric acid to it. Let this mixture activate for 10 minutes, then put it into 500 ml of water. Next take a cotton ball and saturate it with the solution and hold it in contact with the lesion for 10 minutes. Let the area air dry for a couple of minutes, then apply the gel. This solution has about 300 PPM available chlorine dioxide and about 30 PPM of that as free chlorine dioxide. The chlorine dioxide will disinfect the lesion. The gel will protect the area from future infection. The next step would be to boost the immune system to promote healing. The PH of this solution will be a little acidic. If stinging is observed, put 1/4 teaspoon baking soda into the solution to raise the PH. Tom > > There's a person on another list that has a lesion on the inner curve of his > ear. Guest guest
It the MMS1 does not work, try coconut oil with lavander oil and swab the wound several times a day. This heals my ears when i knick it while cleaning. Antibiotics never worked, somehow perplexing. --- > >
