Isaiah is 8 and we are going to be looking for a therapist for him and well, us

too. I am finding that we just don't know how to handle him anymore. He's in

special Ed at school and he's the youngest of 4 kids. We just want to make sure

we are doing everything we can for him. He's bipolar and has asberger's.

Thanks,

I'm sorry that you and your son are still struggling...we have daily challenges

too. Have you contacted Easter Seals? We love our OT from there - we are in

another state but they have services offered WI. I'd call them to see if they

have anything near you (we drive 30 minutes to do Speech and OT - waiting for

ABA too) or suggestions of other places near you...They have an advocate that

provides resources even if you aren't using their services. I'd start with

them...they have info on all kinds of things ranging from help with the schools

(IEP/Sp Ed) to doctors/therapists to financial grants/resources. Good luck :-)

Our pediatrician referred us to a place with " behavioral health " in the title.

There is a team there, child psychologist to help with behavioral therapy and a

psychiatrist to assist with medication recommendations. The therapy itself

involved testing to get an idea of what might be going on with DS' brain

development and then ongoing therapy targeted toward expressing his emotions,

problem solving and self-control.
