Guest guest
I'm basically still at the point of frustration. We went in mid-Jan to get my son, Dylan age 6, seen by a clinician who was supposed to refer him to a doctor. Before I even took him in I asked if they tested for ADHD or Asperger's. I was told definately ADHD and not sure if they could test for Asperger's. I figured it was a start. AFter wasting some serious time at both intake and our visit, I was told it would be a week. After a week and a half, I called and was told it would be almost another week. The following week, I was called and told that I had to do ANOTHER intake at another clinic because the clinician never checked what he needed to be seen for and that clinic didn't fit him (or something that didn't quite make sense)!! I was adament on what I wanted when we saw the clinician and explained what I saw, how he was doing in school, etc...UGH! Now we have to go see another clinician on Friday and I am going to tell them that I need a diagnosis through this or I am not wasting my time. I did talk to her and tell her what I wanted and what I think he " has " . She said she would do some research and try to find agencies that could help us in the area. So here goes another roller coaster ride for us all. This time, though, I am taking in copies of his behavior reports from school so they can see his emotional roller coaster and maybe get a better fell for him and take me seriously! Sorry for the rant, but you all probably know what I am going through and can offer some emotional support (even if it is just in your thoughts!)! Thanks for listening! Hope I have an answer soon..... ***BTW I am thinking he is PDD-NOS at this point. Everything I have read on it fits so much better than Asperger's.
